Couples Therapy doctor Jenn Mann weighed in on the former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evan's marriage to David Eason, advising Jenelle to leave him. Mann, who has counseled former Teen Moms stars Farrah Abraham, Catelynn Lowell, and Tyler Baltierra at some point on the show, is now taking a stab at helping Jenelle's family situation.

Jenelle's husband David admitted to shooting and killing their family French Bulldog, Nugget, back in April after the dog allegedly snapped at their two-year old daughter Ensley. At this point, MTV had already cut ties with David due to a homophobic rant on his Twitter back in February of 2018, and MTV then dropped Jenelle from the Teen Mom franchise after David's admission of killing their family dog. Child Protective Services in North Carolina got involved, which resulted in Jenelle losing temporary custody of the couple's two children. The kids are being placed with Jenelle's mother, Barbara Evans, who was granted temporary custody of the kids, which is where the eldest of Jenelle's children, Jace, has been since infancy.

Mann had some advice to give the former Teen Mom in her recent interview with Hollywood Life. A relationship expert, therapist, and former rape and domestic violence counselor, Mann thinks that Jenelle temporarily losing custody of her kids may motivate her to leave David once and for all, saying, “I think that the pain is a great motivator for people, so losing her children hopefully will motivate her. If that doesn’t, I don’t know what [will].”

While discussing Jenelle’s situation, Mann attributed some of her recent poor decisions to low self-esteem, as well as being in a codependent and unhealthy relationship with David. She said:

“While Jenelle is ultimately responsible for her choices, the mindset that she is in right now is clearly one of someone who has been victimized, and also someone with terrible self-esteem... I do believe that she loves her children. She clearly states it. But you don’t make a life choice like this [to stay] if you are someone who feels good about yourself... I think that everyone around her needs to be giving her a constant reality check. This is not the time to mince words or be codependent and enable her in irrational thinking. In my opinion as a therapist, this is an incredibly self-destructive relationship for Jenelle.”

As Jenelle continues to stand by her husband David, despite his actions that have caused the loss of her dog, her job on Teen Mom 2, and now the custody of her kids, fans aren't convinced Jenelle will ever leave her abusive and unhealthy husband. It seems that Mann is still hopeful that losing her children will be a wake-up call for Jenelle to make the right decision for her family. What will end up happening if Jenelle refuses to leave her husband, despite the circumstances, remains to be seen.
