Counting On's Jana Dugger explains why she still lives at home with Jim Bob and Michele Duggar. The eldest of the Duggar daughters, 29-year-old Jana, says she's perfectly content with her living situation.
Jana, who is known to fans as the soft-spoken eldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle, was seen on 19 Kids and Counting playing second mom to her siblings. The sweet 29-year-old is still unmarried while her younger brothers and sisters wasted no time courting, getting married, and starting families of their own. Jana, however, has remained single and is waiting patiently for her perfect man. For that reason, Jana still lives under Jim Bob and Michelle's roof.
There have been plenty of fans who have wondered why Jana decided to remain at home while her siblings are off starting their own families and living their own lives. Some fans have theorized that the reasoning behind her staying back home is because she's helping her parents in the raising of her younger siblings. It seems to not be the case, however, as a source told Radar Online, that it's just because she wants to be sure to find the right person. The insider said, "Jana doesn’t want to be like a lot of others that just go out and get married and end up in a relationship that is negative. … She’s content with whatever the Lord wants for her." The source said that she just "wants to be patient and wait on God," and Jana expressed that "she does not want to be courted quickly." It seems that Jana is being patient and waiting for the right man to come into her life until then she seems content in the home she shares with her parents in Arkansas. Recently, Jana posted a picture on her Instagram of a sunset on the land where the family home is - see the post below.
She captioned the picture, "Love this place I get to call home." She's expressed on Counting On how she feels like she's in an awkward transitional phase of her life, as she watches her younger siblings go off and get married and starting their own families, while she remains at home with the younger children. However, it's not due to a lack of suitors, as she's had plenty asking her to start courting, but she declined due to just not feeling right about it and waiting to see what happens.
As some fans have called her the "Cinderella" of the Duggar family, as she is the one who is always seen cooking, cleaning, and taking care of her younger siblings, it seems that's not the case. Even though Jana remains at home with her parents, it seems like a choice she has made for herself, not something that is forced upon her by her parents. It remains to be seen if Jana will find the right one and begin her courting process. In the meantime, fans can continue to watch Jana and the other Duggar siblings on Counting On.
