A large part of the country is on lockdown due to the global coronavirus epidemic and with California and New York City included, that means a lot of celebrities are stuck with too much time on their hands and we have the cringe social media posts to prove it. Who is doing lockdown right and who should just put their phones away?

Social media content is at an all-time high with so many people quarantined with little else to do. As everyone over 30 who has suddenly discovered TikTok can attest to, the content isn't as bad as expected. A platform that used to be overrun with e-boys and VSCO girls making cringey posts that were clearly not embraced or understood by anyone old enough to have a full-time job, TikTok now has become the platform people like Friends star Courtney Cox, full of families and bored middle-aged people. Memes are being made by the parents of the normal meme maker.

Quarantine has changed the demographics of not only the social media consumers but the creators. In many cases, this is a good thing, while in others, not so much. Celebrities are as restless as the rest of us and it shows. While that seems to have increased some great content to keep us all busy, other celebrities are just not getting it. Some are harmless just very awkward and some receiving backlash as well as starting full-on celebrity feuds. If you haven't been following along here is a quick recap of some of the worst quarantine inspired celebrity posts.

Madonna

Madonna graced fans with a bizarre coronavirus inspired rant from her rose petal filled bathtub. People are split on the post with some believing she was attempting satire. An expert in that area Weird Al Yankovic even weighed in suggesting that this fail proved how difficult satire is. Others believe she was being serious with the very odd post. The one thing everyone agrees on however is that it was a huge awkward miss that made us all cringe, check out the post below:

Vanessa Hudgens

In an Instagram live rant, the High School Musical star complained about the length of the proposed quarantine calling it "bullsh*t" and in the most entitled way possible. She then went on to say, "Yeah people are going to die, which is terrible, but like inevitable?" She did add that she maybe shouldn't be doing this right now. Which, coming on the heels of Coachella, which likely hit her very hard, maybe she shouldn't have. She swiftly realized her mistake and went to her stories to apologize to fans the next day, but her tone-deaf live comments were still captured in a video that will likely last forever. Check out the original video below (via @balleralert).

Evangeline Lilly

Turns out the beloved superhero the Wasp from should have left her social media on pause. The Lost star took to social media to talk about how she wasn't self-quarantining. While the original caption before edit discussed her freedom and was much worse, even the remaining caption with the hashtag "business as usual" isn't a great look. Lots of celebs including her Lost costar Maggie Grace commented on how and why this attitude was maybe a tad selfish. You can see the edited version of the post below:

Sam Smith

Singer Sam Smith took to Instagram to post a series of photos detailing the stages of a quarantine meltdown. They did this of course, from their multi-million dollar mansion. There were some who found this humorous, while others found it just flat-out awkward. Still others like twitter user @CFCbezz took a moment to point out that that didn't exactly qualify as suffering. And in fact, there were others in history who had it much tougher. You can read the twitter comment below:

Gal Godot (and friends)

Few posts have received so much attention as this one by Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot - and not all in a good way. Google Gal Gadot and cringe and there is no shortage of material about this celebrity sing-a-long to the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. It's not that fans don't appreciate a good celeb sing-a-long, just look at the success of Carpool Karaoke and Lewis Capaldi's awesome sing-a-long video to his song is absolutely hysterical. The problem people had with this is the message didn't line up with the feeling of the nation. With lyrics that talk about struggles being sung by people quarantined in multi-million dollar mansions to people worried about getting food and losing their minimum wage job, just didn't strike the cord intended. No one is questioning how amazing Gal Gadot is or that her intentions might have been good. It was great to see how many of her celebrity friends she could pull together but I think people were hoping it would be for something that would provide relief rather than singing about "no possessions" from mansions.
