Gerard Butler and Frank Grillo are teaming up for Joe Carnahan’s action thriller Copshop. Thanks largely to his starring roles in the Fallen series of films, and before that his intense performance in Zack Snyder's 300, Butler has become known as one of the more dependable action stars in all of movies. Indeed, the actor is just about to strap it on and tackle yet another massive worldwide threat in the soon-to-be-released disaster movie Greenland.

Never one to shy away from stacking up projects one after another, Butler is also now reportedly set to star alongside Grillo in the action thriller Copshop for director Carnahan (via Deadline), who also penned the latest draft of the movie's script. The movie sees Butler playing a professional hitman who goes to war against Grillo’s con artist in a small town police station, with a rookie female cop serving as the third main character. The film is reportedly still seeking an actress to tackle the lead female role. The movie is set to go before cameras beginning in October.

Grillo and Carnahan are of course already well acquainted, having worked together on The Grey and the upcoming sci-fi movie Boss Level, which co-stars Mel Gibson and Rob Gronkowski. Given Carnahan’s thick resume as a director and producer of the kind of action fare Butler specializes in, it’s perhaps a surprise that Copshop marks the first ever collaboration between the two. Butler’s always full slate also includes the sequel Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, the thriller Kandahar and, in somewhat of a change of pace, the comedy All-Star Weekend co-starring Jamie Foxx, Robert Downey Jr. and Benicio Del Toro. Grillo too is keeping very busy, with a future slate that includes The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard co-starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson.
