The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of interesting and unique characters, with plenty displaying endlessly cool and interesting talents over their many appearances. Whether that's the main Avengers or the smaller heroes they meet along the way, everybody in the MCU has something new and different to offer.

It might not always be the most moral or most powerful characters that are crowned the "coolest" in this particular universe, but rather those that fans connect with the most due to their unique personalities. Marvel is great at creating characters that stand out among the crowd, and Ranker's list proves just that.

Rocket Raccoon

Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Rocket was first introduced in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and his presence in the MCU has been one of its most entertaining elements ever since. Voiced by Bradley Cooper, the talking raccoon acts as a consistent source of sharp quips and sarcastic jokes that always manage to lighten the mood.

Although Rocket had been used mostly as a source of comic relief up to this point, Avengers: Endgame introduced a much more complex and interesting aspect to the character. As the last remaining Guardian, it was up to Rocket to travel through time and save his friends - which made him infinitely cooler.

Black Panther

Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther

T'Challa's first encounter with the Avengers was an extremely messy one, with the Wakandan Prince hunting down Bucky Barnes in response to the assassination of his father. The character's journey from there has been an extremely interesting one with many unexpected twists and turns.

Despite the untimely death of lead actor Chadwick Boseman, there are still a lot of potential stories that could be explored within Wakanda. There are plenty of new characters from Black Panther comics that aren't yet in the MCU, so the future of this particular story looks extremely interesting.

Captain America

Steve Rogers in Captain America Civil War

Steve Rogers was an integral part of the establishment of the original Avengers, and the character had some of the most exciting and thrilling scenes in the entire MCU. From that iconic brawl in the glass elevator to his summoning of Thor's hammer Mjolnir, Steve Rogers has undoubtedly had some extremely cool moments.

With Rogers now retired after having spent the rest of his life with his love Peggy Carter, the title of Captain America has been passed to his closest friend, Sam Wilson. Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed audiences just how great Wilson is in the role, and his involvement in Captain America 4 has everybody excited for the future of the character.

Spider-Man

Peter Parker without his mask in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Peter Parker has quickly become one of the most entertaining and compelling characters in the MCU, and it appears that he's going to play a huge role in the progression of the Avengers into the future. With most of the original Avengers either dead or retired, it seems that it's up to Spider-Man to keep their legacy going.

But even outside of his relationship with the Avengers, Spider-Man is an extremely cool character in his own right. His powers are extremely unique, his fighting skills are highly advanced, and his moral strength is one of the most admirable of all superheroes.

Black Widow

Black Widow in The Avengers

Although it took the character's death to finally make it happen, audiences were finally treated to a prequel Black Widow film last summer, which added a whole new dimension to the character. Not only did fans get to see more of her iconic action skills, but the film also introduced Natasha's fun sibling relationship with her sister Yelena.

Romanoff has been an integral part of the MCU ever since her introduction in Iron Man 2where it became immediately clear that she was one of the most intelligent and talented fighters in this entire universe. Ever since, she's been one of the Avengers' most consistent and reliable assets.

Scarlet Witch

Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange 2 Multiverse of Madness

Although Wanda didn't officially become The Scarlet Witch until her occupation of Westview in WandaVisionit's been clear for a very long time now that she has some of the strongest powers and most dangerous abilities of everyone in the MCU.

Although she only played a supporting role in her first two films, Wanda's role in Infinity War and Endgame was pivotal, playing a huge role in the two final battles against Thanos. It was during these fights (and her subsequent spin-off show) that the extent of her powers truly became clear.

Iron Man

Tony Stark with the infinity gauntlet in Avengers: Endgame

There's no denying that Tony Stark is one of the foundational characters in the MCU, and he also happens to be one of the funniest and most entertaining too. His sarcastic attitude and smart sense of humor make his scenes consistently fun to watch, and his dynamics with the other Avengers are just as compelling to see.

Many fans believe that Robert Downey Jr was the absolute perfect casting for the role, with the actor now becoming almost inseparable from the character he played. His absence in the MCU is already notable, but his legacy is going to play a big role for many years to come.

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange Magic

Dr. Stephen Strange displays the perfect kind of charismatic arrogance and sharp wit to make him one of the MCU's coolest characters, and his unique powers only make that even more true. He's one of the only characters with access to magic, which makes his fight sequences way more interesting and gripping than most others.

There are plenty of thrilling Doctor Strange comic storylines that could suitably be adapted into the MCU, which gives the character so much exciting future potential. He's easily one of the strongest superheroes out there, and the scenes in which he appears never fail to be gripping.

Loki

Loki speaking with Thor in Thor: Ragnarok

Despite starting out as a villain, Loki has had one of the most complex character arcs out of anybody in the MCU. From starting out as an ally of Thanos on a quest to conquer Earth to finally meeting his match at the hands of the very same Titan in a heroic act of defiance - then later returning after being plucked from the Time Stream by the TVA.

Throughout all three Thor movies, Loki has been one of the standout characters. Whether he's acting as a friend or an enemy, the one thing that's for sure is that his scenes will never be boring. You can never quite be sure what's going through his mind, which makes him constantly appear one step ahead.

Thor

Thor shouldn't have survived Infinity War.

Out of all six original Avengers, it's probably Thor that's had the most complex and thoughtful journey throughout the course of the MCU. Over his many adventures, the Asgardian Prince has found himself grappling with the loss of his mother, his father, his brother, and his entire planet.

Infinity War was a huge turning point for the character, as he manifested his newly-tapped powers from Thor: Ragnarok to develop a deadly weapon capable of killing Thanos. His arrival at the final battle in Wakanda is cited by many fans as one of the coolest scenes in the entire franchise.
