Remedy Entertainment and publisher 505 Games plan to expand upon the Control franchise by producing a new entry with a larger budget. This tease comes courtesy of another Control-related announcement, wherein Remedy shared its intention to develop and co-publish Condor, the codename of a multiplayer spinoff.

The online-centric Control spinoff will come in the form of a four-player PvE title whose finer details presently remain under wraps. Remedy and 505 did let loose a few noteworthy bits of information, though. Notably, Remedy's proprietary game engine, Northlight, will power Condor, which is planned for release across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. The studio additionally divulged that Condor's "initial development" boasts what amounts to a nearly $30 million budget. In terms of production and marketing costs, Remedy and 505 have agreed to split the funding equally. And as stated above, the two companies aren't solely interested in expanding Control's intriguing world with a multiplayer venture.

In the same Remedy Games post featuring cursory details about Condor, the developer revealed that it and 505 Games have agreed to terms centered around a "bigger-budget Control game." The renewed collaboration has only received a "high level" outline as of writing, however, with both companies prepared to negotiate on more specific terms at an undisclosed time "in the future." Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said the following about the studio's ongoing partnership with the crew at 505:

"We have successfully collaborated with 505 Games for over four years and have both become stronger in our respective fields. We are happy to extend and deepen our partnership. This new agreement supports Remedy’s aims to expand our games into long-term franchises, create benchmark-setting games, strengthen our commercial capabilities and collaborate with great partners with whom we can succeed together."

The minimal details suggest the "bigger-budget" Control title will be a proper sequel to the 2019 sleeper hit, which managed to exceed two million copies sold. Fans shouldn't get too excited just yet since the game is unlikely to enter full development anytime soon. It's worth noting that in addition to working on Condor, Remedy also has a few other ventures in the hopper, including a AAA project with Epic Games and single-player content for Crossfire X and Crossfire HD.

It's good to know that Control's universe will grow in more ways than one. The lore of the world features a treasure trove of interesting corners that warrant closer inspection in both story-based and online adventures.
