Pokémon HOME, Nintendo’s cloud-based Pokémon storage system, allows players to store and transfer Pokémon between compatible games, which will include Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. With its own National Pokédex and storage of up to 6,000 Pokémon with its Premium Plan, Pokémon HOME gathers Pokémon from across the series. As it evolved from the previous system, Pokémon Bank, players can transfer their old Pokémon over from the Bank as well as from the compatible Nintendo Switch and mobile games.

Pokémon HOME currently supports Pokémon GO, Pokémon: Sword and Shield, Let’s Go, Eevee! and Let’s Go, Pikachu! While the exact dates for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s compatibility have not been released yet, it has been confirmed that the Sinnoh remakes, as well as Pokémon Legends: Arceus, will be compatible with the storage system sometime after the release of Legends in 2022.

Pokémon HOME also includes trading features that allow players to trade Pokémon at any time from anywhere in the world. With the randomized Wonder Box, Global Trade System, Room Trade, and Friend Trade, there are plenty of options for players looking to exchange with friends or strangers. Pokémon HOME’s Basic Plan is free and includes access to one basic box, which can store up to 30 Pokémon at a time. The Premium Plan costs $15.99 annually and gives players access to 200 boxes as well as enhanced trading features, allowing players to trade more Pokémon at once and host Room Trades.

How To Transfer Pokémon From Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl To Pokémon HOME

Once Pokémon HOME and Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are both updated to support compatibility, players will be able to store their Pokémon in Pokémon HOME and transfer compatible Pokémon between games. From the Pokémon HOME menu, there are two options: “Pokémon” and “Pokédex.” Selecting “Pokémon” will allow players to access any local save files from compatible games and open their in-game storage boxes in order to transfer their Pokémon.

Storing Pokémon in Pokémon HOME will update its National Pokédex, which features almost all of the franchise’s Pokémon. Transferring Pokémon from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will help players fill out the Sinnoh section of the National Pokédex as some of these Pokémon cannot be caught in Pokémon: Sword and Shield.

It’s likely that Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will allow players to receive Mystery Gifts from Pokémon HOME, similar to Pokémon: Sword and Shield. However, unlike Sword and Shield, which allowed players to use the Mystery Gift function at the start of the game, Nintendo has stated that it will take approximately two hours of playtime before this function can be unlocked in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
