Apple's AirPods are easier to connect to a MacBook than many might expect. Whether a new owner of the recently released second-generation AirPods or an existing owner who has yet to pair their AirPods with a MacBook (and are having trouble doing so), pairing the two is similar to how any other Bluetooth devices are connected to each other.

Wireless headphones have become an essential buy now and with Father's Day on the way, AirPods could be an ideal gift for those who prefer the Apple brand. In fact, even for those with a Windows laptops or desktop - considering they too can be paired with AirPods. Beyond being compatible with both Apple and Microsoft products, AirPods are light, compact, and hassle-free, thanks to the absence of a cord. Once paired, AirPods can be a useful accessory for MacBook users, especially with new streaming services, including HBO Max, and the surge in video-conferencing while more people are working from home.

Whether it's the first-generation, second-generation or the Pro version of the AirPods, they all connect the same way, through Bluetooth. While the process of contenting the two is simple enough, there still might be problems with pairing, such as routine disconnections. However, Apple offers instructions on how to connect, frequently asked questions, and support for any of those struggling while trying to connect Apple products to each other.

Instructions For Connecting AirPods & MacBook

To start, open your AirPods case, but don't take the AirPods out just yet. On the back of the case there'll be a small circular button and this needs to be pushed in and held until the status light turns white - the status light can be found on the inside of the case in-between the two earbuds. It should turn white relatively quickly and then, on the MacBook, look for the Apple icon located in the top-left corner. Click on System Preferences and then on Bluetooth (this setting can sometimes also be accessed through the Bluetooth icon, which looks like a triangular B, to the left of the Network icon). All the devices within reach and ready to pair should be listed, so look for the AirPods and then select Connect.

Similar to your iPhone and other devices you've paired with your AirPods, simply taking out the AirPods within proximity of the MacBook will result in the two automatically connecting to each other after the initial set-up. If it doesn't, repeat the steps mentioned above once again. Pairing your AirPods to your MacBook is only the beginning, as there are plenty of hidden features that can help to improve the experience even more.
