After months of deliberation, think tank explorations and late night scotch induced “brainstorming” sessions, Team Coco has finally announced the name of Conan’s new show on TBS. Like all the great achievements of our day, this announcement was made via Twitter earlier today.
According to Coco Corp. hundreds of minutes and millions of dollars in scotch funds yielded one simple truism: “When you’ve got it, flaunt it.” Coco has wisely chosen to heed that wisdom. When you share a name with the very same figure that propelled the govenator to stardom, there is really only one way to go in naming your TV series.
@ConanOBrien tweets: "I announced the name of my show today...(Spoiler alert: The words "Tonight" and "Show" aren't in it")
Take a look at Conan’s startling announcement here:
In naming his show, Conan asked himself one simple question: “How can George Forman (Two-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Olympic gold medalist, ordained Baptist minister, author and inventor of the George Forman Grill) be wrong?” Answer: He can’t, and he isn’t.
You see, when it comes to naming television series, portable low-fat grilling devices and children - the best course of action is stick with what already works. Does a little show called Seinfeld ring any bells? I’m not sure who you were loving, but between 1996 and 2005 for 29 percent of Nielsen rated Americans it was Raymond.
WARNING: To all those who are currently in the midst of naming a television series in which you are both star and creator (I assume this is most of us), know this!: Self-titling can backfire drastically. PLEASE only name your show after yourself is you are a tongue in cheek comedian, an adept practitioner of self-love or Oprah. It works best if you are all of the above.
Last year, amidst international crisis, economic decline and televised competitive luge; our nation rose together with one united voice and said these simple words “I AM WITH COCO.” Today that battle cry has been rewarded and in the christening of his show Coco solemnly responds, “And so I am with you, go in peace and know that it shall be called – Conan.”
Conan airs Nov 8th on TBS
