Hades' features stretch far beyond the main story, with side-quest romances, the Pact of Punishment to keep gameplay fresh, and a gifting system that lets players build bonds with the cast of characters. In time, Zagreus can complete favors for these friends. Dusa, the overworked and shy custodian of Hades' House, has a relatively straightforward favor and a sweet storyline centering around her job in the House. She also gifts a uniquely useful companion, Fidi, who has the ability to petrify enemies.

To build relationships in Hades, players need to gift enough nectar to the character of their choosing. Each nectar gifted will cause Zagreus to express his care for that character, and a little heart icon will pop up. The more players build bonds with a character, the more of their stories they'll tell. Five or six nectars max out the first level of a bond, depending on the character - in Dusa's case, it'll take six nectars. Dusa can be found all around Hades' hub area. Sometimes, she's in the lounge, and sometimes she's dusting the valuable urns by Hades' locked door.

Dusa is at first shocked and a bit star-struck when Zagreus talks to her. As the floating, severed head of a gorgon, working in the House of Hades is a huge opportunity for her. She's more than a bit anxious to do a great job and often flies off from conversations to get back to work. Once players have given her enough nectars, Dusa's favor becomes visible in the Fated List of Minor PropheciesHades' in-game achievement system.

Helping Dusa Renovate Hades' Lounge

Dusa is reinstated as custodian at Hades House in Hades

To complete her favor, players should find the prophecy "A Place of Revelry" in the Fated List menu. It hints that Zagreus "shall make certain attempts to aid a tireless gorgon, assigned to bring part of the House to the height of splendor," which is a bit cryptic. Luckily, the requirements are actually pretty simple: players need to help Dusa renovate Hades' lounge area. There are a few essential renovations to make, and then ten more of the player's choosing. The required renovations are:

  • Service, Deep Cleaning - to clean up the fur Cerberus left behind.
  • Service, Detailing - to repair the huge gouges Cerberus clawed in the walls and floor of the lounge.
  • Decorating - buy one rug and any ten additional lounge renovations.

All of this costs quite a few gemstones; Zagreus will need around 700 or 800 in all. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to earn gemstones. Players with the Rod of Fishing can catch rare fish that Hades' head chef will pay many gemstones for, or spend four diamonds to grab the Vanquisher's Keep work order, which rewards a hefty sum of gemstones for each boss defeated. There are also the usual gemstones available throughout a run from chamber rewards, Charon's shop, and the Well of Charon.

Once Zagreus has funded enough renovations for Hades' lounge, Dusa will express her sincere appreciation for how much he's done for her. With her favor complete, players can gift Dusa ambrosia to earn one of Hades' companion items, Fidi. Dusa's story continues, but with her favor complete, Zagreus and her have already built a strong, meaningful bond.
