There are several comedy shows with excellent writing that have become legendary for all the right reasons, but Community shines within this particular department by being truly remarkable in terms of the sheer cleverness and tight nature of the writing. It was one of the hallmark traits of this show that endured throughout the entire series' run... barring a few exceptions, that is.

Of course, even the tightest and concise writing possible would still not be enough to gloss over any strange oversights, errors, or anything else along the same lines that might've arisen over the course of Community's six-season run. Some of these strange things are very hard to ignore, no matter how hard one may try.

Britta's Development Throughout The Show Is Abysmal

Britta from Community

After being somewhat true to her somewhat admirable ethics near the start of the show, it's quite sad to see Britta go through such a bad character arc, which ultimately ended up with her becoming the punching bag of the group.

One may argue that this development of Britta's character was pretty unnecessary and could've been handled in a more tasteful manner. However, it was clear that the showrunners needed someone that they could rag on as a running joke of sorts and Britta was the unfortunate victim.

Jeff's Romantic Scenes Seem Pretty Inconsequential

Jeff is the heartthrob of the series, and he never even tries to pretend otherwise. So, it was only a given that he would end up engaging in some romantic relations with the members of the main cast. That said, the end product of his affiliations with Britta and Annie ultimately lead to nothing.

It almost felt like the romance was an afterthought, which — while a creative decision that can certainly be respected — led to some of these scenes feeling like a complete waste of time.

Troy And Britta Getting Together Felt Forced

Another romantic venture on the show that was also pretty lackluster was Troy's relationship with Britta. It is widely considered to be kind of pointless and forced during the "gas leak" year.

While it certainly lent to some interesting moments throughout the show, this was another romance with absolutely no end product whatsoever, with Britta and Troy going back to being friends after a rather boring relationship.

It's Weird How Everyone Enabled Abed's Delusions

Abed might be one of the more entertaining characters on the show, but one can't deny that he acted way too peculiar at times. It often got himself and his friends into trouble.

The fact that the study group and everyone else on the show didn't really challenge Abed's perceptions much and let him live out an unhealthy reality was certainly a rather convoluted way to enable him.

Troy's Sudden Departure Was Odd

Troy leaves in Community

While the real life situations of shows, stars, and contracts are certainly understandable to an extent, one has to admit that Troy's departure from the show was quite abrupt and not really explained all that well.

The idea that Troy would leave everything behind just to sail the world on a whim might sound rather adventurous... but it's not really all that practical either. It's especially weird that he never returned.

Greendale Is Ridiculously Inept For A Community College

There's a basic degree of competency that is to be expected from any higher learning institute that is offering degrees to people that would help secure better jobs for those folks later on.

However, Greendale remains a college that is run by inept people at the helm, which makes people wonder how Greendale even managed to qualify as a community college in the first place. It's really that bad.

The Degrees At Greendale Must Be Almost Completely Worthless

Given the quality of the classes at Greendale, it goes without saying that students don't really learn much about the subject they're enrolled in.

From the farcical anthropology classes held by Professor Duncan to Jeff's abysmal job at working as a law teacher, there's evidence to point against the fact that the degrees earned at Greendale actually have some work put into achieving them. That's not even counting courses like The History of Ice Cream or Advanced Breath Holding.

City College Shouldn't Even Bother With Besmirching Greendale

In fact, Greendale is doing such a great job of sabotaging themselves as is that one might argue City College doesn't even need to go out of their way to ensure that Greendale's reputation falls even further somehow.

Rather, the elaborate plans that are carried out by City College could be nixed by them, with the money going into more productive avenues that would improve City College itself. Of course, doing so would've prevented some of the best Community episodes from airing so perhaps this isn't all that bad of a thing at the end of the day.

The Fact That Everyone Was Worse Off After Leaving The College Is Genuinely Sad

One thing that is genuinely saddening about Community is the fact that each and every member of the study group ended up graduating at one point only to fail at what they were supposed to do.

However, it's not like any of the graduates were incompetent. In fact, most of them could've easily done anything they'd put their mind to, making this sad turn of events to reunite them feel all the more forced as a result.

Chevy Chase And Dan Harmon's Feud Was Way Too Public

Dan Harmon and Chevy Chase from Community

Perhaps the strangest thing about the show that was almost impossible to overlook was the behind-the-scenes feud between Chevy Chase and Dan Harmon, which was simply way too public given the nature of this particular dynamic.

From Dan Harmon leaking a voice recording of Chevy Chase to the former SNL star getting way too public about this feud after leaving the show — the information surrounding this particular batch of bad blood was simply way too much, especially given the fact that this feud was no one's business aside from these two people themselves.
