The study group at the center of Community found unique ways to celebrate Christmas despite differing religious views presented in a handful of memorable episodes. In total, the series created by Dan Harmon featured four Christmas-themed episodes across the six-season run. While Greendale Community College was often the site of their various celebrations, that changed as the group of friends became more like family.

Despite the fact that Shirley was the only Christian in the group, it was Abed who always seemed to need some Christmas cheer. Due to his love for pop culture, he always had ideas in his head for what Christmas should look like. Without a caring family by his side, the rest of the study group–Jeff, Annie, Shirley, Pierce, Troy, and Britta–often needed to increase their Christmas spirit to support Abed.

As the case with Community's Halloween episodes, the series had a tendency to go all out when it came to Christmas. Not only were there multiple yuletide episodes, but there was also an extremely unforgettable animated episode created as a nod to some of the most famous Christmas TV specials. Here's a breakdown of Community's Christmas episodes.

Season 1, Episode 12, "Comparative Religion"

NBC

Community's first Christmas-themed special comes in the twelfth overall episode. It follows Shirley as she plans a Christmas party for the study group only to find that their religious backgrounds are very different than hers. Meanwhile, Jeff stands up to a bully that won't stop picking on Abed, leading to a brawl. The episode also features a fun end tag in which Abed and Jeff decorate Troy to the song "Oh Christmas Troy."

Season 2, Episode 11, "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas"

NBC

In season 2, the holiday episode comes in the form of "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas." Rather than the normal live-action format, the episode is presented in stop-motion. Abed is aware of the group's animation, which convinces the others in thinking that their friend is having a mental break. As Abed searches for the true meaning of Christmas, he and his friends are transported to a holiday-themed planet. The rest of the study group realizes that Abed just needs support so that Christmas can have meaning in his mind so they follow along with his fantasy.

Season 3, Episode 10, "Regional Holiday Music"

NBC

For season 3's "Regional Holiday Music," Community attempts a musical Christmas episode. At first, Abed is upset that none of his friends will be around to spend the holidays together. That changes, however, when Greendale's glee club suffers nervous breakdowns, opening spots in the annual Christmas pageant. They each get convinced to join the club one by one, performing original songs in the process. The group also realizes they must come together to cheer Abed up so he doesn't spend the holidays alone.

Season 4, Episode 10, "Intro To Knots"

NBC

The final Community Christmas episode arrives in season 4 with "Intro to Knots." Jeff plans a Christmas party for his friends at his apartment, but Annie also invites their history professor in the hopes that they could convince him to change their grades. The professor, played by guest star Malcolm McDowell, gets tied up in a chair, allowing the group to negotiate the grades until they realize his motivations. The end of the episode features a tease that sets up another future appearance by members of the "Darkest Timeline."
