The friendships built within the Study Group throughout the course of Community was one of the best parts of the show. Almost any mix of the main characters was a treat to see from Jeff and Annie to Britta and Troy, even without any of the romantic undertones those had.

However, one friendship stood out above the rest as being the best. That would be the relationship between Troy and Abed. They went from casual buddies to roommates to best friends. Their shenanigans were often the best part of a given episode and fans adored these two. Those fans can rewatch these episodes to get the best of them, in chronological order.

Spanish 101 (Season 1, Episode 2)

Troy and Abed sit on a couch rapping in Spanish

Although they met in the pilot, this is where things all began for Troy and Abed. This episode sees Chang's Spanish class pair up for a project. While the focus is mainly on Jeff and Pierce, as well as Jeff's attraction to Britta, Troy and Abed work on their project together.

They show up during the episode and quickly put things together successfully. However, it's in the end tag where they shine. The series' first tag sees Troy and Abed perform their famous rap where they just rhyme the random words they know in Spanish. It was the start of something beautiful.

Introduction To Statistics (Season 1, Episode 7)

Shirley as Harry Potter, Britta as a squirrel, Troy as Eddie Murphy, and Annie as a skeleton

Following the fun rap, the pair kind of stayed away from each other for a few episodes. The Dia de los Muertos party thrown by Annie on Halloween allowed that to change. Abed goes dressed as Batman, while Troy's costume is of Eddie Murphy in his famous outfit from Delirious.

The two don't spend a ton of time together but they get to have great back and forth banter. They share odd questions and bond over them. Once again, they add to it with the end tag where they discuss what they would do if they woke up as a donut and realize they think about a lot of the same things.

Epidemiology (Season 2, Episode 6)

Troy from Community wearing a papel tower that says Dracula as a Halloween costume

For the second year in a row, Halloween played a major factor in the Troy and Abed friendship. By this point, they were established as being best friends. So, they attend the school's Halloween party with tandem costumes from the Alien film franchise.

When this fails to score with the ladies, Troy takes a page out of Jeff's book and opts to dress attractively instead of as a "nerd." This upsets Abed, who feels like Troy somewhat turned on him. Thankfully, they make up by the end and Abed sacrifices himself so Troy can save the day.

Conspiracy Theories And Interior Design (Season 2, Episode 9)

Troy and Abed sit in their blanket fort

When most fans think about this episode, their minds will go towards the storyline between Annie and Jeff. It featured memorable moments like the arrival of Professor Professorson and the list of fake night classes at Greendale.

However, the other major plotline in the episode follows Troy and Abed as they build a blanket fort. It starts relatively small but they end up covering a large chunk of the school with it. This is important to their relationship and sets up a pivotal season three arc.

Early 21st Century Romanticism (Season 2, Episode 15)

Troy and Abed talk to a girl at a party

A common trope in television is when a seemingly unbreakable friendship is tested by them sharing a romantic interest. Community went that route with this season two episode. Another holiday-themed edition, it takes place around Valentine's Day.

Troy and Abed both like the librarian and ask her out. She doesn't know them so she agrees to go to the dance with both, get to know them there, and choose. While there, she picks Troy, which Abed gracefully accepts. However, Troy gets upset that she didn't like Abed and storms off to rejoin his buddy.

Remedial Chaos Theory (Season 3, Episode 4)

The Study Group sits around a table in Remedial Chaos Theory

It seems like "Remedial Chaos Theory" is a key episode for a bunch of this show's relationships. Jeff and Annie, Troy and Britta, Piece and Troy, Annie and Abed, and the list goes on. For Troy and Abed, it's pivotal because it marks their official debut as roommates.

This installment sees them invite the study group over for a housewarming party. Jeff rolls a die to see who goes downstairs to let the pizza delivery man in and it creates six different timelines. Although those timelines don't focus on Troy and Abed, their relationship is tested when Abed invites Annie to move in with them.

Pillows And Blankets (Season 3, Episode 14)

Troy and Abed swing pillows at each other as Shirley and other Greendale students battle behind them.

Troy grew tired of some of Abed's actions and it boiled over in "Digital Exploration of Interior Design." Vice Dean Laybourne gets in Troy's head about being Abed's sidekick, driving a wedge between them. It causes his blanket fort to clash with Abed's pillow fort, starting a war within Greendale.

"Pillows and Blankets" details this in the style of a Ken Burns' documentary. The centerpiece of it all is the crumbling friendship of Troy and Abed. In the end, they don't even want to stop fighting because it would end the friendship, which Jeff makes them realize shows how strong their bond is.

Conventions Of Space And Time (Season 4, Episode 3)

Troy and Abed dressed as Reggie and Inspector Spacetime

The fourth season, often dubbed the "gas leak year" without Dan Harmon running things, put Britta and Troy together as a couple. That leads to Abed feeling somewhat left behind. Britta (and the rest of the group) joins him and Abed at an Inspector Spacetime convention.

While there, Abed meets up with a fan from another country who ends up trying to replace Troy as his best friend. Troy takes time away from Britta to save Abed from this sinister fan and the two reconcile, going on to have a strong friendship the rest of the way.

Basic Human Anatomy (Season 4, Episode 11)

Troy and Abed face each other in their pjs, confused about what's happening

For proof of what these two were willing to do for each other, all a viewer needs to do is watch "Basic Human Anatomy." The episode sees Troy and Abed pull off a Freaky Friday-style body swap. The study group knows they're lying but the two keep up the charade.

It's eventually revealed that Troy wanted to break up with Britta without hurting their friendship. He didn't know how to do it so they thought up the body swap idea so Abed could handle it for him. Their friends understand and help them realize that Troy needs to tell Britta himself, which he does.

Geothermal Escapism (Season 5, Episode 5)

Troy and Abed face the camera during a game of The Floor is Lava

Season five was a return to form for the series though Donald Glover departing the show was a blow. After agreeing to Pierce's request to travel around the world to earn inheritance money, Troy's final days at Greendale come in "Geothermal Escapism." Abed concocts a school-wide game of "The Floor is Lava" to send him off.

Like paintball, things get serious because Abed offers up a comic book worth $50,000 to the winner in what becomes a delightful final adventure for the duo. Britta forces Abed to confront the fact that he started the game as a way to cope with Troy leaving. The two have an emotional goodbye to end the episode and Troy's stint on Community.
