Brie Larson made several appearances on Community as one of Abed's love interests, but what happened to her character, Rachel? Before appearing in MCU films like Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, Larson worked on another Russo Brothers-related project: Community. Although the show had a somewhat troubled production history, especially in the later seasons, Community remains one of the most well-loved comedies from the last decade.

The show followed a group of misfits at community college who bonded when they formed a study group to help work on their Spanish homework, which ran for six seasons (but sadly, no movie). Although all of Community's characters were lovable in their own right, one fan favorite was Abed, played by Danny Pudi. His affinity for pop culture and his bond with Troy (Donald Glover) made him one of the show's best characters, so it was only inevitable that, eventually, he would get a love interest.

Abed cycled through a few brief love interests on the show, including a secret service agent and a deaf girl who Britta paid to ruin the ending of a book for him; none seemed to have as genuine of a connection (or lasted as long on the show) as Brie Larson's character, Rachel. Rachel was a student at Greendale who worked on a work/study program as a coat check girl, which was where she met Abed for the first time. They were together for quite some time, but Rachel didn't return in Community season 6, likely due to Larson becoming a bigger star and her schedule being busier.

Unlike many of Abed's other love interests, Rachel understood and shared his passion for film, television, and pop culture references. She helped him re-create the classic movie trope of taking two girls to the same dance, and after Abed came to his senses, he decided not to pursue the other girl and made a grand gesture a-la Say Anything to win her back. He was ultimately successful. After that initial appearance, Larson returned as Rachel in Community season 5, where she ran coat check at another school dance. This time, after witnessing Britta and Carol pulling a vicious prank on Abed, they reconnected and began dating for real.

Abed and Rachel dated for at least a month (their one-month anniversary was featured in the episode "VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing"), but things went south for them during a dinner with Annie and her brother Anthony. So they ended up playing a board game with Annie and her brother, but the game took hours and eventually grated everybody's nerves. Things went from bad to worse when Rachel found out that Abed and Annie had made a bet that, if Abed won, he would ask Rachel to move in with him. This upset Rachel, who was angry about being left out of the loop, and she left in a huff. While Abed did end up apologizing and they mended their relationship, Rachel never appeared on the show again.

It's assumed that Rachel and Abed continued being friends after her last appearance, but this was unconfirmed, considering she wasn't explicitly mentioned after. She was hinted at in Community season 6, with Abed asking what happened to the girl he was dating. It's implied she was still around, but had just disappeared. Abed and Rachel never explicitly broke up; they merely never got together again. Even though her role may have been small, Rachel still made a large impact on the show (and Abed) - and she was considered one of the few good things to come out of Community season 4, which was the result of a massive behind-the-scenes change that shifted the show creatively.
