'Community' Season 4 Brings Back Giancarlo Esposito

‘Breaking Bad’ alum Giancarlo Esposito will reprise his role of Chevy Chase’s secret half-brother on season 4 of ‘Community.’

Giancarlo Esposito returns to Community season 4

Former Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito has signed up for another guest spot on the upcoming season 4 of NBC’s quirky comedy Community.

Esposito will reprise his role of Gilbert Lawson from the season 3 episode ‘Digital Estate Planning,' where it was revealed that he was the secret half-brother of Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase).

It's not yet known how the stuffy Gilbert Lawson will reappear or what episode of season 4 we can expect to see him, but some have speculated it might involve a much anticipated tour of Pierce’s famed mansion.

Esposito is probably best known for his role as the villainous meth lord Gustavo "Gus" Fring on AMC’s hit drama Breaking Bad, which earned the actor an Emmy nomination. Esposito was also featured in the first season of ABC’s storybook drama Once Upon a Time as the Evil Queen’s main toady Sidney Glass (A.K.A. The Magic Mirror). Presently, he can be seen on NBC’s fledgling drama Revolution.

Joining Esposito for Community’s star-studded season 4 is the British comedian Matt Lucas (Little Britain) as a strange fanboy named Toby, whom Abed befriends at an Inspector Spacetime convention. Battlestar Galactica alum Tricia Helfer will play Lauren, who's described as a "drop-dead gorgeous superfan" that will appear on the Inspector Spacetime convention episode, as well. Veteran actors Malcolm McDowell and James Brolin will also show up in season 4 as the gang’s new history professor and Jeff Winger’s father, respectively.

Only time will tell if Community season 4 can stack up to its predecessors without creator Dan Harmon as showrunner. And if ratings don't improve fairly quickly, the new season will likely be the last.

Keep your eye on the main page for Community news and catch the season 4 premiere Friday, October 19th @8:30pm on NBC.
