Community fans everywhere rejoice: star Joel McHale has said a Community film might be in the works. The American sitcom began airing in 2009 on NBC; the series racked up over 110 episodes before the series finale in 2015. The sitcom's all-star ensemble cast featured McHale alongside Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, and Danny Pudi, among others.

Community quickly developed a cult following for its acting, storylines, and sense of humor. The show revolved around a group of students at Greendale Community College, which is located in the fictional town of Greendale, Colorado. More specifically, Jeff Winger (McHale) enrolls at the community college after lying about having a Columbia degree; he decides to forms a study group, which consists of a large number of the ensemble cast. The show also focuses on several quirky Greendale Community College faculty members as well, including Ben Chang (Jeong) and Craig Pelton (Jim Rash).

Although Community went off the air five years ago, the students and staff of Greendale Community College may once again return to school, this time in the form of a movie. Joel McHale stopped by Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show last night, where he said there was "a good chance" that a Community movie would take place. He added that the entire former cast - including Brief, Glover, and Pudi - had recently reunited on Zoom, and every member had confirmed they would be on board to return.

"There's a good chance I think, because on the Zoom everyone got asked and Donald said he would do it, and he's the busiest man in showbusiness."

A potential Community movie, though, comes with a catch - McHale stipulated that the film would only work if creator Dan Harmon returned. Considering Harmon's busy schedule and current work with Rick and Morty, it's unclear if he'll be able to make a substantial commitment to a Community film, at least soon. Still, McHale is optimistic, stating that if Harmon made time, "people [would] make themselves available." Even if this isn't an absolute confirmation of Community's return, it's still exciting news for fans, especially with the added opportunity to have the gang - with Harmon included - back together.

Although Community had its fair share of rough patches during the show's run, fans still remember the series fondly. Many incredible stars today were thrust into the spotlight with  Community, and the show has since cemented itself as a pop culture icon. That being said, while official confirmation of a Community movie is still in the works, a return to the Community world may be the happiest anyone's been to return to school.
