The first trailer is here for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The trailer did its job in presenting the story and threat to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also had some fun Easter eggs and references from the comics in the trailer. In the new MCU movie, Ant-Man, Wasp, Cassie Lang, Hank Pym, and Janet Van Dyne all get swept into the Quantum Realm thanks to a device Cassie created. It is now up to Ant-Man to get them back home.

The movie will finally introduce Kang the Conqueror to the MCU after fans got a small look at him in Loki under the name He Who Remains. In that series, he mentioned that there were other variants of himself in the multiverse, all of which were eviler than he was. With Kang showing up in this trailer, there is a lot to unpack with the visuals, which presents some scary hints at what is to come.

Chronopolis

Chronopolis in Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania

The biggest comic book callback in the trailer came in the form of Chronopolis. This is the home base of Kang the Conqueror, the location where he rules over all the societies that he has conquered throughout his life. The city looks just as people might expect from the comics.

Chronopolis is a circular city, and the look at the city in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer has a city full of circular objects. This is Kang's longtime home, and that does not bode well for Ant-Man as the MCU races toward The Kang Dynasty.

The Heart Of Forever

The Heart of Forever in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quanumania trailer

What fuels Chronopolis in Marvel Comics is the Heart of Forever. This is an engine that allows Chronopolis to exist in every part of the timeline at the same time. With Kang as the new ruler of the TVA, this is a strong possibility for the movie.

There is one scene in the movie that calls back to the Heart of Forever. With the appearance of Chronopolis established, there is a quick scene of a bright sphere placed into a capsule. This is possibly the Heart of Forever, which helps fuel this city and opens it up for traveling through the timeline.

Cassie Lang As Stinger

Ant-Man, The Wasp, and Cassie in Quantumania.

The MCU has been working on bringing in the next generation of heroes over the last year. Hawkeye passed on his mantle to Kate Bishop, Iron Man is gone, but Riri Williams is coming. Ms. Marvel has arrived and a new Black Panther is almost here. For Ant-Man, the next generation hero is his daughter, Cassie Lang.

There was one shot in the trailer where Ant-Man and Wasp were standing facing some aliens in the Quantum Realm. Not only were they in costume, but Cassie was too. It looks like this is where she becomes either Stature or more likely Stinger, as the costume in the trailer is the color of her Stinger costume in the comics. This is another step to creating the next generation of Avengers.

Bill Murray Is Krylar

Bill Murray with white hair in blue robes in Ant-Man & Wasp Quantumania

Bill Murray showed up in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer as an unnamed figure, and he didn't have any lines. However, in interviews, Murray has said he is a villain. This character is Krylar.

Krylar is a deep cut from Marvel Comics. He appeared in The Incredible Hulk #156, and he died in that issue. He was a blue alien in the comic, and while he was not blue here, he was wearing a blue jacket. From the look, he might be one of Kang's main leaders in Chronopolis and might have a history with Janet Van Dyne.

The Micronauts?

MODOK in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania

The Micronauts are almost assuredly not appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, when Ant-Man and Cassie showed up together in the Quantum Realm, they faced some interesting-looking alien creatures. These bore a resemblance to the classic Micronauts.

In Marvel Comics, the Micronauts were freedom fighters battling a dictator in the Microverse. That sounds a lot like what might be happening in this movie. However, this will just have to remain an Easter egg to the comics because Marvel no longer has the rights to use most of those characters.

Wasp Has A New Haircut

A split screen of Wasp from the MCU and the comics

Wasp in the comic book was very different from Wasp in the MCU. For one thing, Janet Van Dyne was always the Wasp in the comics, and while there was a next-generation version in Nadia Van Dyne, Janet never stepped down. Janet was also much more fashion-conscious in the comics.

In the MCU, Hope is a little more no-nonsense and much more of an active hero than Ant-Man. However, there is one clip from the trailer with Hope and Scott at a premiere that shows her new haircut. It is the exact same haircut that Janet had in the comics.

Circles And Time Travel

Kang surrounded by circles

There are a lot of circles in this trailer. The fact that Chronopolis is circular in shape is comic book accurate. However, there are giant circles in the city that bring to memory the Ten Rings in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. There were also rings in The Eternals, and that makes it seem this plays an important role in the power.

In the comics, not only is Chronopolis circular but so is Kang the Conqueror's time-ship. There is what looks like an army of ships, all ready to attack. However, it also calls to memory Kang's ship, and the circles can't just be in the MCU by coincidence.

The Quantum Realm

Ant-Man and Cassie in the Quantum Realm

When Ant-Man was in the Quantum Realm before, everything seemed blurry. When they found Janet there, it cleared up a bit, but everything seemed distant. The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer has cleared everything up perfectly, and comic book fans should recognize this place.

While the Quantum Realm is an MCU invention, it is an amalgamation of the Microverse and the Negative Zone. While it takes some from the Microverse with the Micronauts lookalikes, it also looks like an exact replica of the Negative Zone. With The Fantastic Four coming soon, this looks like the perfect spot for their debut.

Kang The Conqueror

Kang with glowing power in his hands in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

So far, the MCU has shown Kang the Conqueror as a man, and in Loki, they didn't even use the name, Kang. Even here, when he is talking to Ant-Man, he is the same looking figure he was in Loki. However, there were two shots in the trailer that finally showed Kang as the powerful Marvel villain he is.

Both of these shots were quick, although one showed him moving into the frame. These shots finally showed the Kang that Marvel Comics fans know. He wore the traditional comic book costume, including the blue face mask. Kang never seemed threatening before, but here he is in all his glory.

Kang's Army Is Ready

Kang's army of ships

So far in the MCU, fans have only seen Kang as a man who seems peaceful and like he wants to work with others to keep the peace. The Kang in Loki had killed as many variants of Kang as he could to keep any of them from conquering the universe. However, his death opens the door.

In the comics, readers know that Kang is a conqueror of worlds, and he grew bored with his success and went back in time to conquer this timeline. While he seems like a generous and outgoing man in Loki and even the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer, he is a very evil man. This look in the trailer at his warships ready for launch hints at what the MCU has to look forward to in the future.
