Summit Entertainment, the folks behind the jaw-droppingly popular Twilight franchise, will be out in full force at Comic-Con this year. This time around, the studio is offering convention attendees sneak peeks at two highly anticipated action films: Red, starring Bruce Willis, and Drive Angry 3D, starring Nicolas Cage.
Red is an adaptation of Warren Ellis’ three-issue comic book series about retired spies who are unexpectedly forced back into action. At Comic-Con, a number of the film’s stars, including Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Mary Louise Parker, and Karl Urban will join Warren Ellis and director Robert Schwentke to talk about the film and answer questions from the audience. They will also premiere the final trailer for the film.
For those attending Comic-Con, the Red panel is on Thursday, July 22 from 2:15pm – 3:15pm in Hall H.
The first trailer for Red was awesome (if you’re into 60-something Academy Award winners shooting machine guns) so I’m hopeful that the final trailer will be just as good. It will also be interesting to hear the cast discuss making the film. Bruce Willis is a big-screen action star, so he’s probably seen it all before, but I’m curious to hear Helen Mirren’s thoughts on playing a 60-year-old assassin.
Drive Angry 3D
On Friday, July 23 from 10:30am -11:00am, Summit Entertainment will host a panel for the revenge-on-wheels thriller Drive Angry 3D starring Nicolas Cage. In the movie, Cage plays “a vengeful father [who] hunts down the people who brutally killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby.”
At the panel, Cage, along with co-star Amber Heard and director Patrick Lussier, will debut footage from the film. The Summit press release announcing the panel describes the film as a “high-octane, blood-spattered road trip through hell.” If that sounds like your thing, you may want to free up a half-hour Saturday morning to check it out.
Here at Screen Rant, we’re planning complete coverage of Comic-Con 2010, so when the full Comic-Con schedule drops, make sure to check back here to get our advice on the must-see panels.
In the meantime, sound off in the comments about Summit Entertainment’s panels. If you’re going to make it out to San Diego this year, are you interested in learning more about Red and Drive Angry 3D?
