Comic-Con 2012: 'Dexter' Panel

'Dexter' season 7 at Comic-Con-2012

The seventh season of the long-running Showtime series Dexter will air this fall but that doesn't mean you'll have to wait that long to hear what the program has in store. The cast and crew of Dexter will be at Comic-Con this year to talk about the show and we'll have all of the latest news and developments here at Screen Rant.

Many of the main cast members are scheduled to appear on the panel including star Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter. Also appearing on the panel will be executive producers John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Scott Buck, and Manny Coto.

If you're attending the convention, you can check out the panel yourself at 6 PM Pacific Time in Room 20. If not, keep it parked right here and for the latest on the hit show below.

6:17PM:Moderator Ralph Garman is revving the crowd up for the Dexter crew. A sample of the game Dexter is now being shown…

6:26PM:First two minutes of season 7 are now playing. Dexter is trying to explain his actions to Deb.

“I snapped,” he tells her about the murder she just witnessed. She’s clearly freaked out. She goes to call the police and he says “No,” stepping towards her. Then, the sneak preview ends. We’ll have to wait to find out what happens.

6:30PM:Audience question: If your character from season season could give advice to your character in season one, what would it be?

Hall: “Don’t make any friends.”

6:34PM:Audience Question: How would you feel about a musical episode?

Answer: Hall says that it would be fun. He said that he’s always thought about the series having twelve different endings but like the musical episode, he doesn’t think that’s gonna happen.

6:36PM:In terms of bringing humanity to his psychotic character, Hall says that it’s easier to do that considering the tragedies in his character’s past and that “Dexter’s father had a unique parenting style.”

6:38PM:Audience question to Hall: What similarities do you have with your character?

Hall: “We look a lot alike…”

6:40PM:Hall on playing a beloved character: “It feels amazing…It’s a once in a lifetime thing to play this part.”

6:43PM:Carpenter on Deb’s status in season seven : “I think this is the first year here” where my character has felt lost.

6:46PM:Audience question: “Personally who has been your most satisfying kill on the show?”

Hall: “The biggest prize has to be Trinity” because he had killed so many people.

6:50PM:Hall on the struggles of getting in and out of character: “When you do a character this long, you sort of know it on a cellular level.” He says now he just tries to get out of the character’s way.

6:55PM:When asked about reading the script, Jennifer Carpenter noted that she didn’t think that a network would air the show or an audience would watch it. She said that she thought she was only going to do the pilot originally…

6:59PM:On meeting fans, Hall says that most people recognize that his character is fictional while others have said that they have “some people” they want him to kill.

7:04PM:Hall after an audience member asked him what his favorite season is: “The one we’re doing right now cause that’s all there is, baby.”
