With this in mind, there are some comedy shows that audiences are more eager to see over others. Needless to say, these comedy series in 2022 should be on the radar for every television lover out there.

Only Murders in the Building: Season 2

Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez in the elevator together in Only Murders In The Building

The surprise hit of 2o21 is now one of the most anticipated returns of 2022. Only Murders in the Building follows Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as fans of a murder mystery podcast who try to solve a murder in their building. They also want to make a podcast about it.

Only Murders in the Building surprised everyone upon release. Its weekly release schedule helped fuel theories and discourse surrounding the mystery of who the murderer could be. The cliff-hanger at the end of the first season lefts audiences wanting more. Now that this show has solidified itself as must-watch TV, fans are eagerly awaiting the second season.

She-Hulk

She-Hulk in Marvel Comics

MCU fans got their first look at She-Hulk during Disney+ day. But Marvel promised this show would be an exciting legal comedy, which would faithfully follow Jennifer Walters in her career as a lawyer. In the comics, She-Hulk is known to break the fourth wall, and poke fun at the comic book tropes she's in, so this could potentially be a unique and fun new entry in the MCU.

The MCU is no stranger to making straight-up comedies. Thor: Ragnarok is considering one of the funniest MCU movies, but She-Hulk has the potential to be a comedy of a different sort. The MCU hasn't gone into parody yet and if they're interested in a faithful adaptation of the character then this could be a first for the MCU. The return of Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth is also exciting for fans.

Peacemaker

John Cena as Peacemaker

Hot off the success of The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker will follow the titular character as he tries to be some kind of hero. Peacemaker is known to want to go for peace no matter what, and he's not afraid to go through women and children to get it. The trailers promise just the sort of James Gunn comedy that fans have come to expect from him.

For the first TV show set in the DCEU, a crazy high octane comedy about one of the side characters in The Suicide Squad wasn't something that anyone saw coming. James Gunn looks determined to deliver an all-out action comedy with heart, the likes of which only he can deliver.

How I Met Your Father

The cast of How I Met Your Father sits together

From the creators of How I Met Your Mother, Hilary Duff leads an ensemble cast in How I Met Your Father. Fans of How I Met Your Mother will probably be familiar with what to expect, it's essentially a story about a girl who's telling the story about how she met her husband to her kids.

After Hilary Duff lost the Lizzie McGuire reboot at Disney+, she turned to this series in the hopes that this one would be the type of show she was looking for. How I Met Your Mother was a phenomenon for its time and the new series looks to be just as funny. Here's hoping the ending won't be as divisive.

The Afterparty

Sam Richardson holds his head with writing all over his face in The Afterparty

Murder mysteries seem to be making a comeback on the big screen thanks to the likes of Murder on the Orient Express and Knives Out, but The Afterparty takes a more comedic look on the small screen. Each episode of the show will follow a different character’s perspective of a High School reunion afterparty as viewers begin to piece together the mystery.

Sporting an all-star cast of the likes of Ben Schwartz and Tiffany Haddish, the show looks to be a hilarious ride for fans of comedies and murder mysteries. With executive producers like Phil Lord and Chris Miller, this is sure to be a huge hit.

The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window

Kristen Bell in The Woman in the Window

Netflix is getting in the parody game with The Woman in the House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window. This series sees Kristen Bell play a lonely woman who sits in her house doing the same thing every day. One day she thinks she witnesses a murder but no one believes her.

This limited dark comedy series is sure to be a blast for the whole household. Last year, Netflix put out a movie called The Woman in The Window and this series seems to be a slight parody of that movie. With an engaging mystery at the heart of it and a lead that most pandemic era viewers could relate to, this show could become a must-watch.

Tooned Out

Christopher Lloyd surrounded by Looney Tunes

Not much is known about this series, as of the time of this writing the series a trailer hasn't been released yet. What is known is that it stars Christopher Lloyd and Zach Galifianakis and follows a character named Mac as he begins to see iconic cartoons from the WB library during a low point of his life.

Robert Zemeckis is a co-creator on Tooned Out, so immediately, it sounds like something in the tone of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The most recent time these characters were brought out was Space Jam: A New Legacy, but the creative team attached to this should make people forget all about that.

Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai

A prequel series to Gremlins, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai is an animated comedy series that will follow Gizmo and a ten-year-old version of Sam Wing. Sam Wing is the name of the old man that keeps Gizmo in the classic 80s film and this show looks to explore how the two met and the adventures they went on.

HBO Max ordered this series a little while ago and 2022 will see it finally come out. If it keeps the same type of whimsical tone that made everyone fall in love with the first Gremlins, then Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai is sure to be a fun watch for the whole household.

Zootopia+

A green title logo for Disney's Zootopia+.

During the 2020 investor day live stream for Disney+, they announced a short-form animated sequel series to Zootopia called Zootopia+. Now it looks like 2022 will see its release. The series is meant to follow various fan-favorite characters from the 2016 film to explore more of the world of the city of Zootopia.

Zootopia was a huge critical hit, and fans have been wondering if Disney would ever revisit the world. While fans eagerly await a trailer for the series, it's nonetheless an exciting time for fans of Zootopia. If the series can recapture the heart and humor of the original movie then fans will surely be happy.

Astrid And Lilly Save The World

Astrid and Lily Save the World is an upcoming Syfy original comedy series. The show is going to be a comedic spin on the monster hunting genre and follows the title characters of Astrid and Lily as they attempt to survive high school and protect their town from the monsters that they accidentally unleashed.

Sometimes the world just needs some silly fun. Most of the cast and crew of the series are newcomers but the confidence on display in the trailer leads you to believe that the series could deliver where others fail to. While Astrid and Lilly Save the World might not be the next Only Murders in the Building, the show could surprise and still be the type of fun romp needed in times like this.
