Colton Underwood announced on Friday that he tested positive for coronavirus. In a recent interview with Chris Harrison and Lauren Zima on Fireside Chats via Instagram The Bachelor alum shared he now has his symptoms under control.

The spread of COVID-19 has been steadily on the rise for months now, causing city lockdowns across the world in an attempt to get the global pandemic under control. Colton Underwood is among a growing number of celebrities that has announced testing positive for the novel coronavirus, including Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Idris Elba, Kevin Durant, and Harvey Weinstein. On Friday, March 20th Underwood took to Twitter and Instagram to announce his positive results and encourage his followers to stay at home.

Initially the 28-year-old described his symptoms as "kicking his a**," sharing that he had trouble going up a flight of stairs without losing his breath. On Saturday, March 21st, Underwood shared in an interview with Chris Harrison and Lauren Zima on Fireside Chats via Instagram, "I'm good, I'll be fine. I'm lucky enough to have it under control for the most part" (via US News). He went on to share in his latest Instagram post, posted today, he's been using medication, "hydroxychloroquine, Z-Pak and last night the doctor prescribed an inhaler" to battle the symptoms, "headache, body aches, terrible night sweats" and "shortness of breath." One of the most prominent symptoms, in severe cases, is difficulty breathing. The Bachelor season 23 lead revealed, "Breathing is challenging, the best way to describe it is feeling like I only have access to 20% of my lungs." Check out the post below:

The former NFL player revealed that he has remained in quarantine on the top floor of his girlfriend, Cassie Randolph, and her family's home in Huntington Beach, California. Randolph and Underwood have been together since his season ended early 2019, and shares he is fortunate enough to have their support during this troubling time. Underwood shared, "I mean I haven't seen them in a few days because I've been up top, but once in a while they obviously make my meals and send my coffee up, and it's really nice. They've been taking care of me."

While many news sources and politicians have encouraged everyone to practice social distancing the numbers of the pandemic are still increasing. Even with the closing of many business' and Hollywood postponing most, if not all, of its productions', including The Bachelorette, it's becoming more and more likely someone we know personally will contract the infection. The Bachelor season 23 lead Colton Underwood shared his experience to help encourage the practice of social distancing. Hopefully, the testimonials of those who have tested positive will convince more of the importance of staying at home.
