The manga turned anime series Attack on Titan has grown exponentially in popularity since its initial release, especially now as the final season of the anime series is quickly approaching. Proof of Attack on Titan’s popularity was recently put on display as Riverdale star Cole Sprouse cosplays as one of the series’ main characters Eren Jaeger. More specifically, Cole Sprouse dresses up as post Titan-form Eren.

The Attack on Titan manga was created by Hajime Isayama and was quickly adapted into the incredibly popular anime of the same name. The series follows Eren Jaeger whose father experimented on him and gave him the gift of Titan transformation. Before Eren is aware of his supernatural ability, he forms a hatred of the giant beasts after one of them ate his mother. Eren became a soldier and learned how to kill Titans, and it was during a mission that he became aware that he was a Titan himself

Whenever Eren emerges from his Titan form, he is left with red markings under his eyes where his face was connected to the giant Titan body. That post-Titan look is brilliantly emulated by Cole Sprouse in his stunning cosplay of the character. Not only did the actor ace the make-up portion of the look, but also the hairstyle. In the later, more recent stories, Eren has grown his hair out and pins it back nearly exactly as Cole Sprouse did in his cosplay. While the actor nailed his Eren Jaeger look, even incorporating Eren’s greatly used battle cry “tatakae” into his post, which is a Japanese word that means “fight”, the Riverdale star wanted to be an entirely different Attack on Titan character. In the Instagram post where Cole Sprouse showed off his cosplay, he wrote, “Wanted to be Levi but I’m not 5’2’’ #tatakae”.

The actor was referring to another main character of the series, Levi Ackerman, who is the Special Operations Squad Captain of the Survey Corp beyond the wall. While Levi doesn’t share Eren’s power of becoming a Titan, it is clear why Cole Sprouse wanted to portray the character as he is unarguably one of the coolest in the series in part because of his ‘play by his own rules’ personality as well as his impressive Titan-killing abilities. Sadly, Cole Sprouse had to go with his second choice of Eren Jaeger though he didn’t let his disappointment show in his cosplaying abilities.

Currently, Cole Sprouse is best known for playing Jughead Jones on the CW’s Riverdale and recently starred in the romance/drama film Five Feet Apart. With his filmography expanding beyond his breakout role in Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Sprouse could very well be hinting at the fact that if there were to be a new live-action Attack on Titan film, he’d be ready to suit up as Eren Jaeger. While there is no evidence of that happening any time soon, Riverdale star Cole Sprouse pulled off the Attack on Titan character’s look while cosplaying as Eren Jaeger.
