Screen Rant can exclusively present a clip from the new action thriller Code Name Banshee, which arrives in theaters July 1 and is set to be available simultaneously On Demand. The new movie stars Antonio Banderas (far from his cuddly Puss In Boots image and closer to his action origins) and Jaime King (Black Summer) as assassins who must join forces after a long time.

Code Name Banshee was directed by Jon Keeyes (Rogue Hostage) and written by Matthew Rogers, who worked with Keyes on The Survivalist. The film follows Caleb (Banderas), a former government assassin in hiding, who learns from his protégé Banshee (King) that a hefty bounty has been placed on his head and one of their enemies is seeking to collect.

In Screen Rant's exclusive clip, tensions simmer as Banshee walks into Caleb's bar, and the two eye each other with both suspicion and the warmth of a old yet damaged friendship. Banshee pulls the blinds out as requested, while Caleb reaches for his weapon and places it on the bar as a sign that is equal parts respect and caution. It seems the air clears when Banshee clarifies that she's not looking to kill her ex-mentor, but she has information on his $10 million bounty and who's looking to make good on it: mercenary Anthony Green. Caleb is reassured by her sincerity for now, but audiences will have to watch Code Name Banshee on July 1 to learn whether their reinstated partnership can survive all the pressures that are sure to be thrown at them.

As is clear from the poster shown below, Code Name Banshee focuses heavily on the dynamic between Caleb and Banshee, and the mistrust that has built between them after years of no contact. But with killer forces after them, they have no choice but to let their guards down with each other. Code Name Banshee also stars Tommy Flanagan  (WestworldSons of Anarchy) as deadly mercenary after Caleb and Catherine Davis (Run Hide Fight, S.W.A.T.) as Caleb's daughter Hailey, who teams up with her dad and Banshee.
