An enterprising Reddit user has found a new way to trick players in Call of Duty: Warzone, using his unique strategy to get the edge over his opponents in hilarious fashion. The online battle royale game has grown in popularity since launching alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in late 2019 and the free-to-play title remains the most engaging aspect of the first-person shooter.

Warzone is essentially Activision's response to recent the trend towards the battle royale genre. Games like Fortnite have proven to be lucrative and the Call of Duty franchise had to respond to ensure it remained successful in the current market. Infinity Ward has continued to release a large selection of additional content for the game since its launch last year, introducing new weapons, skins, and locations to keep the action fresh.

One Call of Duty: Warzone player has found a new strategy that worked surprisingly well in the battle royale game. Reddit user Lambeauleap80 effectively faked his own death in order to trick an opponent who he had been following for some time. After dropping all of his weapons and items on the ground he then lay prone. To other players, this made it look as if he had been killed and his loot was ripe for the picking. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting user, Lambeauleap80 quickly jumped up and beat him to death. Talking about his achievement on the social site, the Redditor said, "I couldn't stop laughing at this death chat reaction after faking my death actually worked."

This unique strategy is not the first example of Call of Duty: Warzone players experimenting with the gameplay mechanics in interesting ways. Ever since the game first became available, users have come up with numerous tricks and or discovered little-known features that can give them an edge in battle. Of course, a few gamers have taken things too far and strayed into actual cheating. But Infinity Ward has remained consistent in banning cheaters and keeping the online servers relatively free of those who don't play fairly.

One of the best things about Call of Duty: Warzone has been seeing the ways that clever players are able to take advantage of the mechanics and features of the battle royale game in unique ways. That's why sites like Twitch have so many streams of the game available every day. It's a testament not only to the ingenuity of gamers but also of Infinity Ward's first-person shooter, which is deep and complex enough to allow players to develop so many different strategies.
