Raven Software confirms that Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 will be the end of the Verdansk map's rotation as the developer makes room for Call of Duty: Vanguard’s integration, which will introduce the new Pacific map. Verdansk has seen many alterations over the past year, with Call of Duty Season Six's Verdansk map changes are some of the battle royale map's most significant yet. Warzone's main battleground has been affected by seismic charges planted around existing POIs, leveling much of Downtown, splitting the Stadium in two, and exposing hidden WW2-era bunkers.

Although it will mark the end of Verdansk as the game's premier map, Warzone Season Six isn’t the only update so far to bring major changes to the sprawling location. From the opening of the map’s central Stadium to the addition of several other POIs, Verdansk has had a few makeovers. The biggest so far took place after Warzone Season Three's nuke event, which transported players back to 1984 with an updated, retro Verdansk to explore after the game integrated with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. But all those changes will soon vanish, as both the developers and players say goodbye to Verdansk.

As spotted in an official promo by CharlieIntel, Raven Software has confirmed that Season 6 will be players' "last time in Verdansk." It was already confirmed the classic battle royale map will be replaced at the end of Season 6, but this is the first indication Warzone may not keep either iteration of Verdansk as an alternative to Pacific. The new map’s official release date has not been confirmed, but it has previously promised to arrive in Warzone before the end of 2021.

When Warzone's Pacific map was originally revealed, it wasn’t clear whether it would join Verdansk and the much smaller Rebirth Island or if it would replace one (or both) of them altogether. Now, it's clear Verdansk is being fully replaced by the new map at Season Six's close. Because the change isn't coming until the end of the year, though, it’s not clear if  Verdansk will vanish with the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard or if it will remain available in Warzone for a while after the next entry's launch on November 5.

Saying goodbye to Verdansk might be a bittersweet moment for Call of Duty: Warzone players, as the map has been a staple of the battle royale since its launch in early 2020. In recent months, however, some players have opted for Warzone's improved Rebirth Island lighting and smaller match sizes. While Verdansk offers some iconic POIs and a larger area to explore and loot, it's close to two years old. The time to replace the old with new is likely soon, especially as Call of Duty: Warzone prepares for its full Vanguard integration.
