Season 5 of Call of Duty: Warzone has its first mystery – Stadium Access Cards. The fifth season’s Battle Pass trailer debuted today, encouraging players to spend more money to unlock more items. As with every new Call of Duty season, more content – such as maps, modes, and items – is being implemented to keep the experience fresh. Moreover, Warzone players will be able to enjoy some of Modern Warfare’s content for free August 7-12, including five of the latter’s maps.

Call of Duty: Warzone serves as a free-to-play spinoff of 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot. One of the title’s largest attractions is that fans do not have to own a copy of Modern Warfare to play it. Warzone is the second game in the Call of Duty franchise to take a stab at the trending battle royale genre, with the first attempt made in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – which was also the first game in the series to not feature a single-player campaign.

As Warzone’s fifth season kicks off, PCGamesN reports the season’s Warzone Stadium Access Cards are its first mystery. Players must find P2-16 access cards “in and around the stadium.” Collecting these cards grants soldiers access to a small room “located inside the stadium parking garage.” A computer is set up there with which players can interact. Doing so causes the computer to generate numbers and odd characters. Unfortunately, the numbers and symbols the computer produces are different with every interaction, and the community is trying its best to figure out the codes’ significance and how to understand it. A video by MrTheRevertz – which fans can watch below - shows the mystery in action.

Speculation suggests the codes hint at the return of certain Call of Duty game modes, such as Zombies, though, “it also seems likely that these codes have something to do with the bunkers that have already been discovered.” Infinity Ward hasn’t commented on the access cards, likely waiting to see if players can figure it out themselves. After all, Warzone has featured multiple puzzles, especially in seasons three and four. Usually, developers don’t have to get involved to assist the community with eventually solving these conundrums, and gamers’ thirst for solving puzzles is a testament to the joy they experience when participating in such side experiences, not to mention their dedication to the game considering they could be gunned down at any moment while trying to decipher the codes.

It’s always entertaining to see the small mysteries developers place in titles where the primary objective – such as surviving or defeating opposing players – has little to do with the mysteries themselves. For someone to work on solving these mysteries and simultaneously accomplish the match’s primary objective takes at least some form of skill, perhaps even teamwork. It’ll be interesting to see what the key to the access cards is and what occurs as a result of solving the computer codes.
