A Call of Duty: Warzone player has called attention to a bug that causes the game's Riot Shields to disappear under certain circumstances, robbing players of their protection. While Warzone offers players an array of damage-dealing weapons in its arsenal, utilizing the Riot Shield is an often-used tactic thanks to its unique ability to protect a player while also allowing them to deal damage.

Call of Duty: Warzone quickly became one of the most popular free-to-play shooters of the genre when it launched in 2020, but it hasn't come without its problems. Like many ever-evolving games, Warzone players are often subjected to glitches and bugs typically introduced in new patches and game updates. While many of these glitches are surface-level and don't impact gameplay, there have been lots of more-damaging problems seen in the shooter, plenty of which have been taken advantage of by griefers. Though many of the game's bugs are a problem, some are more amusing than harmful, including a recent glitch that saw a Warzone player grow a third arm.

As reported by Game Rant, YouTuber Rito Rhymes' rap calls attention to the Warzone glitch that can cause a player’s Riot Shield to disappear. According to the frustrated YouTuber, this common bug has persisted in Warzone for over a year, and will occur when a player with a Riot Shield gets downed while inside of a vehicle. Upon being revived, the Riot Shield will disappear, showing a "No Weapon" icon in its place. The glitch will reportedly occur regardless of how the player gets revived or how the vehicle is damaged after they are downed, though a workaround for the bug means it can be avoided by having a shotgun equipped or in the inventory. The rap video, which features Rito Rhymes' spoken-word rap over footage of the glitch in question, offers a unique yet accurate exploration of the glitch and how much it can impact players.

Although Raven Software continues to provide fixes for its free-to-play battle royale, some previously patched issues have been known to return with new updates, such as Warzone’s recurring invisibility glitch, which is possibly why the Riot Shield problem has reportedly persisted for such a long time. While Rito Rhymes’ shotgun solution for the Riot Shield bug may seem like a simple fix, unfortunately, players will need to acquire another shotgun after being downed in order to ensure their shield does not disappear should they wish to get into another vehicle.

Considering the bug has existed in Warzone for over a year, it seems that the issue may not be very high on Raven Software’s priority list to fix. The studio certainly has its hands full while it prepares to integrate the battle royale with the recently-released Call of Duty: Vanguard, however, Rito Rhymes’ video will undoubtedly help players avoid being robbed of their shield until the bug is patched. While Warzone will have new weapons for its players to enjoy once it is integrated with Vanguard in December, should fans wish to use the Riot Shield in its current state, they will have to exercise caution, lest they fall victim to this pervasive bug.
