Amidst complaints from players, Call of Duty: Vanguard has revealed changes to its spawn system in its experimental playlist. Call of Duty has struggled with its latest multiplayer installation, with Vanguard's release being overshadowed by other new multiplayer games like Halo Infinite. Despite the issues at launch, it appears that Activision has not given up on its flagship shooter franchise.

Call of Duty: Vanguard comes at an interesting point in the franchise's life cycle. Following Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, rumors began to circulate that the Call of Duty franchise might become an Xbox exclusive (rumors which have since been debunked) or move away from its annual release pattern. Although there is still another scheduled release for 2022, which has been rumored to be a sequel to 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. While many fans of the series are looking ahead, the team behind Vanguard has continued to iterate and improve on the game. The most recent change will certainly be something that Vanguard players will be excited to hear.

According to the latest patch notes from developer Sledgehammer Games has begun testing a new system that should help improve the spawn locations in Call of Duty: Vanguard. The new spawn system will prevent players from spawning in positions where they will be immediately facing an enemy and is particularly designed to improve the spawn system on smaller maps like Shipment and Dome. This new modified spawn system has been added to Vanguard in its own experimental playlist, which will feature three maps - Shipment, Das Haus, and Dome. Players can begin playing on this playlist to test the new spawn system now.

In addition to the spawn system overhaul, Sledgehammer did reveal certain other buffs and nerfs that will affect gameplay. Players will, in particular, notice that the rate at which they earn weapon XP has been increased in both the multiplayer and Zombies modes. Of course, leveling up weapons to unlock new attachments and camos is one of the biggest challenges in Call of Duty, so Vanguard players will be happy to see the grind cut down. There are also ways to increase the rate of weapon XP gained in Call of Duty: Vanguard if these changes are not enough.

Despite its relative lack of success, Call of Duty: Vanguard is still attracting players. The developer remains committed to improving the gameplay experience of Vanguard and removing unfair spawns is certainly a quality-of-life change players can get behind. Call of Duty players can check out the new playlist and provide feedback to a still-listening developer.
