The multiplayer reveal of Call of Duty: Vanguard has given players a glimpse at the first-person shooter's playable Operators. The next installment in the beloved series will take players back to the unforgiving battlefields of World War II. With new maps, new Operators and new mechanics, Call of Duty: Vanguard strives to be a major evolution for the franchise.

Recently Call of Duty: Vanguard alpha was held on PlayStation consoles, allowing the public to get their hands on the intense shooter for the very first time. This public test of the game, meant to locate and help fix technical and accessibility issues before the game's launch, ran between August 27 and 29. While the game's fast and intense gameplay was praised, the alpha helped find many problems with the current state of Vanguard. Issues ranged from unfair spawn locations to difficulties with visibility, negatively affecting gameplays for many participants. Thankfully developer Sledgehammer Games has promised to address all of this feedback before the start of Call of Duty: Vanguard's beta test, which is set to open up on September 10.

During Call of Duty's recent Vanguard multiplayer reveal via YouTube, developer Sledgehammer Games detailed the upcoming title's playable Operators. The game will feature 12 Operators at launch, with six of them being available in the upcoming Vanguard betaVanguard's campaign story features Captain Carver Butcher, a returning character from Call of Duty: WWII, who assembles a multinational team of elite soldiers. This early version of the modern special forces is made up of the game's Operators, who each have a unique backstory and specialized skills in battle. The Operators will also speak during combat, giving them even more personality than Operators of the past.

As Call of Duty: Vanguard's multiplayer features are being revealed, Call of Duty: Warzone will also benefit from the upcoming title's release. Warzone will receive a new Pacific map when Vanguard launches, taking the game's battle royale action back to World War II's bloody front. The new map will be quite distinct from Warzone's current urban map of Verdansk, with Pacific featuring jungles and caves for players to explore. Developer Raven Software plans to support this new map with further updates and playlists, just as it has done for Verdansk in the past.

Call of Duty: Vanguard continues to improve and expand upon the most popular features of the franchise's past. Operators are a popular addition to the series, giving distinct appearances and personalities to once-generic playable soldiers. Vanguard looks to up the ante by giving each Operator their own unique voice and in-depth backstory, further immersing players in the deadly battlefields of World War II.
