Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

Activision Blizzard has shared a minute-long teaser video that reveals Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's late October 2022 release date. Initially confirmed earlier this year after months of leaks and speculation, Modern Warfare 2 will serve as a sequel to 2019's acclaimed Modern Warfare adventure. Infinity Ward serves as lead developer on the upcoming first-person shooter, which remains shrouded in mystery with respect to concrete details.

Even after Activision and Infinity Ward confirmed the existence of Modern Warfare 2, the leaks and rumors continued to pile up in the absence of official information from the publisher and developer. One recent rumor, in particular, comes courtesy of Call of Duty leaker and Twitter user TheGhostOfHope, who recently claimed a new mode known as DMZ will include an in-game marketplace where players can trade and purchase a wide variety of items. Apparently, the items will work across Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer suite and, eventually, Warzone 2. While Activision and Co. remain mum on the matter, the company has at least let loose another exciting bit of information.

Today, May 24, the official Call of Duty Twitter account uploaded a minute-long teaser for Modern Warfare 2, complete with an artwork reveal for the title. To the chagrin of many a fan, the drone-captured video doesn't feature gameplay footage; however, it does confirm that this year's Modern Warfare entry will hit store shelves in just a handful of months on Friday, October 28. Notably, the teaser also features a "J-8-22" tag scrawled across a shipping container, which suggests a full reveal could go live on June 8. Check out the video in the post linked below:

The above teaser video features a host of other noteworthy tidbits, as well. For instance, one piece of artwork included in the trailer confirms that Call of Duty fan-favorite Captain John Price will return for the Modern Warfare sequel. Other series veterans such as John “Soap” MacTavish and Simon “Ghost” Riley also appeared in the aerial footage.

If Activision does plan on showcasing Modern Warfare 2 on June 8, the reveal will kickoff quite a busy period of time for gaming. The Geoff Keighley-hosted Summer Game Fest 2022 goes live that same week on Thursday, June 9. In addition, Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks plan to broadcast a joint digital event on Sunday, June 12. Suffice it to say, game enthusiasts have plenty to look forward in the weeks ahead.
