Players who struggled with the grind required to unlock new weapon attachments in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be pleased to learn that an XP boost alleviates this issue in the latest patch. Cold War hasn't been too kind when it comes to leveling up weapons and netting new attachments of late. As such, developer Treyarch Studios continues to refine and balance the overall experience in an effort to remedy these problems.

Since its launch on consoles and PC earlier this month, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has suffered its fair share of issues. Some problems shipped with the game, while others have cropped up in the weeks since then. Notably, players have found that leveling up weapons, and in turn unlocking new attachments, necessities an exorbitant amount of work. Such a grind is hardly ever fun, especially for those looking to experience the action in the most balanced manner possible.

Thankfully, co-developer Treyarch Studios has been hard at work in its own right to iron out these grievances. In a Treyarch blog post featuring the latest update's patch notes, the studio informs players that changes were made to Weapon XP earn rates. As a result, players the world over can now expect to level up their weapons and gain access to new weapon attachments at a quicker rate. This holds true for both the regular multiplayer component and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Zombies mode. The patch rolls out today across all platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Treyarch buckled down and made the aforementioned adjustments on the heels of last week's 2XP + 2WXP event. Regular players should notice some other changes, too. For example, the patch additionally closes an "out-of-bounds gap" in the Nuketown '84 map, which allowed users to survive beyond the bounds of the player-dedicated space.

Improvements of this nature are always welcomed, particularly in an experience that a vast amount of players will regularly revisit. And to further satiate its fans, Treyarch is also promising that even more 2WXP events are on the cards for December. When these specific events will go live in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War currently remains to be seen, but the development team will no doubt keep fans up to date in this regard in the weeks ahead.
