Nuketown '84 was released for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War today as a precursor to Season 1. Since the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, multiplayer and the beloved Zombies mode have been in Season 0. There are prestiges to earn and plenty of challenges for Season 0, but there is no Battle Pass for the first few weeks of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's life.

Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is slated to release on December 10. Players can expect far more content to grind for when compared to Season 0. New prestiges and prestige master will be added, new weapons along with maps will be released, and the first Battle Pass in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available for purchase. It appears that there will be three new multiplayer maps in Season 1 along with two new weapons. Content likely won't be released all at once, but rather in pieces in the same way that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare did with each Season.

To set the new Season of content in motion, Nuketown '84 was released within Multiplayer on all platforms. In a blog post on the Call of Duty website, Nuketown '84 was outlined and plenty of tips for new players were listed. Before any tips are given, there is an acknowledgement that many players are veterans of the map. In one way or another, Nuketown has found its way into every Treyarch Call of Duty game since Call of Duty: Black Ops. For the Black Ops Cold War iteration, some backstory was even given.

Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War Nuketown 84

Nuketown '84 is of course set in the '80s and has a unique aesthetic to represent that time period. However, it isn't entirely '80s based and overhauled like past version have been. Rather, Nuketown '84 is a run down and reused site that was abandoned. After nuclear tests in the area in 1956, the Nevada site was abandoned for almost 30 years until a group of misfits stumbled upon the site. The misfits making the place their own after such a long time explains the graffiti and weird mix of aesthetics on the map.

For most Call of Duty players, the release of Nuketown '84 is something to be excited for. It's a fan favorite map that encourages fast paced gameplay much like Shipment or Rust. Regardless of the Black Ops game, players never get sick of the map, and it offers a guaranteed great map to the current rotation. With the addition of Nuketown '84 there are nine maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and that list will keep growing as Season 1 releases next month.
