Cobra Kai may be defined by rivalries and conflict, but an unlikely friendship is one of the most promising things about a potential Cobra Kai season 6. As a reflection of Daniel and Johnny’s forever-complicated relationship, the Cobra Kai characters would often engage in rivalries caused by misunderstandings or love triangles. Conflicts such as those between Miguel and Robby or Sam and Tory set the tone for Cobra Kai’s first four seasons, but those have now come to an end following the events of Cobra Kai season 5.

With Terry Silver’s Cobra Kai dojo becoming a threat not only to Daniel LaRusso but to everyone around him, a new dojo combining the teachings of Daniel, Chozen, and Johnny has come to be. Unlike what happened in Cobra Kai season 4, this new, still unnamed dojo didn’t fall apart right away. With most of the Cobra Kai characters now fighting for the same side, new friendships and character dynamics can be explored in Cobra Kai season 6.

Robby & Hawk Can Be Friends For The First Time In Cobra Kai

Johnny, Robby, Miguel, and Eli in Cobra Kai season 5

The latter half of Cobra Kai season 5 teased a potential friendship between Robby and Hawk. While it was initially not easy for Robby and Hawk to get along despite being on the same team, Cobra Kai season 5’s ending teased that the two characters will now be friends. That is a dynamic Cobra Kai never got to show, as Hawk and Robby spend most of the series on opposite sides. Even when Robby and Hawk were both on Kreese’s Cobra Kai in season 3, they clearly did not like each other. Fortunately, that Cobra Kai rivalry has now ended.

Instead of having Hawk and Robby perfectly work together following the merging of the dojos, Cobra Kai rightfully showed that there was still animosity between the two characters. Hawk had always blamed Robby for what happened to Miguel at the school fight in Cobra Kai season 2, whereas Robby perceived Hawk as a bully no matter for which dojo they were fighting. Neither of them wanted to admit that the other had gotten better. However, as Demitri put it best, both Robby and Hawk had acted wrongly in the past. The two Cobra Kai characters each had redemption arcs, which is why having them bond will be so interesting.

Robby vs. Hawk Was Cobra Kai’s Most Overlooked Rivalry

Robby and Hawk

Robby vs. Hawk was by far Cobra Kai’s most overlooked rivalry. Although Cobra Kai season 1 focused on the conflict between Miguel and Robby, to the point other Cobra Kai dojo students like Hawk did not even know Robby until the All Valley, the season ended with a Robby vs. Hawk fight at the tournament. Already two of the best Cobra Kai fighters, Hawk and Robby delivered an intense fight that was marked by Hawk attacking Robby’s shoulder from behind. That new rivalry escalated once Robby put Miguel at the hospital, with Hawk never considering Robby a “true Cobra Kai” friend.

Robby and Hawk’s rivalry continued even after the latter’s redemption arc. Now more balance following his training with Daniel LaRusso, Hawk got to face Robby once again in the All-Valley final. Unlike their first fight, Robby and Hawk’s tournament fight in Cobra Kai season 4 was less emotional and more technical, and it was one of the best fights of the show. Essentially, Robby and Hawk have a four-season legacy as rivals and have already fought twice in the All-Valley. As Cobra Kai’s forgotten rivalry comes to an end, an exciting new friendship between Robby and Hawk arises.
