With Cobra Kai season 3 arriving sometime in 2020, which characters from the Karate Kid saga could still appear? In 2018, YouTube revisited the 34-year rivalry between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) in Cobra Kai. Created by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, Cobra Kai explored the present through Johnny's point of view as he reopened Cobra Kai dojo and renewed his competitive spirit with Daniel.

Cobra Kai season 1 culminated with the 50th Anniversary All-Valley Under-18 Karate Championship, which is the same tournament Daniel previously won. This time, Johnny's star pupil, Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), defeated Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan), Johnny's estranged son who trains with Daniel. Cobra Kai season 1 reignited the Karate Kid series and brought a fresh perspective to the saga. Cobra Kai season 2 continued the momentum built in season 1 as Daniel opened up Miyagi-Do karate at the old home of the late Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). In the season 2 finale, Robby severely injures Miguel, which forces both Johnny and Daniel to reevaluate their training methods.

Throughout the first two seasons, Cobra Kai has brought back familiar faces from the Karate Kid saga. Notable characters like Sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Lucille LaRusso (Randee Heller) made appearances in Cobra Kai. Now that Cobra Kai season 3 is official, what other Karate Kid favorites might return? Here's every character who could still appear in Cobra Kai.

Ali Mills Schwarber (Elisabeth Shue)

Mr Miyagi and Ali in The Karate Kid

The character at the top of the list for a potential return is Ali Mills Schwarber, who is at the heart of the rivalry between Daniel and Johnny. In The Karate Kid, Ali previously dated Johnny before she met and eventually dated Daniel. In the season 2 finale of Cobra Kai, Ali surprisingly responded to Johnny's Facebook message with a friend request. When pressed about Ali appearing in season 3, Macchio and the creators have remained silent on the issue. That being said, all signs point towards Ali showing up in Cobra Kai at some point in season 3.

Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith)

Terry Silver in The Karate Kid Part III

Terry Silver, the villain of Karate Kid Part III, could return to the saga in Cobra Kai. In the third film, Silver was a ruthless karate expert who almost turned Daniel into a stone-cold killer. However, after an eye-opening fight, Daniel left the ruthless instructor in favor of Mr. Miyagi. In Cobra Kai season 2, Daniel references the events of Karate Kid Part III and mentions Silver and his student, Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan). Silver's involvement in season 3 was teased on Kove's Instagram when he posted an old photo of Silver, saying he hopes to see his old friend again.

Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto)

Chozen Toguchi in the Karate Kid Part II

In The Karate Kid Part II, Daniel meets his new adversary, Chozen Toguchi, on Okinawa Island. Chozen is the nephew of Sato (Danny Kamekona), Miyagi's former best friend turned rival. At the end of the second film, Daniel fights Chozen one-on-one to the death. When Daniel gets the upper hand and has the opportunity to deliver the final blow, he elects to spare Chozen's life. With the news that Daniel will travel to Okinawa in Cobra Kai season 3, revisiting Chozen and the aftermath of his fight with Daniel could be a realistic storyline.

Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita)

Daniel Larusso and Kumiko in The Karate Kid Part II

Daniel's love interest from the second film, Kumiko, could find herself in Cobra Kai. Daniel met Kumiko during his trip to Okinawa, and the two started a romantic relationship. However, in Karate Kid Part III, Daniel tells his mother that Kumiko accepted a dancing position in Tokyo that was too good to pass up. With Daniel returning to Okinawa in season 3, Kumiko could be waiting for her former lover's return.

Julie Pierce (Hilary Swank)

Julie Pierce and Mr Miyagi in The Next Karate Kid

The Next Karate Kid was the first film in the franchise to feature a new training protégé for Mr. Miyagi, Julie Pierce (Hilary Swank). Although Julie and Daniel have never met, they both share the same love for Mr. Miyagi. The creators stated that Julie is part of the Karate Kid canon so an appearance on Cobra Kai is not out of the question.
