Where can cult horror movie Clown be watched online, and is it on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime? Clowns are supposed to be figures of fun for young children, but unfortunately, they can also inspire incredible fear in people of all ages. That's why they tend to recur in horror movies and fiction as figures of terror. Pennywise the Dancing Clown from Stephen King's IT is probably the most famous example, with the clown form being a mask for the shape-shifting monster beneath. Batman's most iconic foe The Joker or the titular man-eating aliens in Killer Klowns From Outer Space also conspire to give clowns a bad reputation.

Clown is a relatively fresh entry to the subgenre and arrived in 2014. Clown began as a fake trailer that was uploaded to YouTube in 2010. It told the story of a father who dons a clown costume for his son's birthday, only to find he's unable to remove it. The trailer also claimed it was from Eli Roth, director of the controversial Hostel movies, who had nothing to do with it. That said, after Clown went viral, Roth helped the filmmakers behind it mount a feature-length version, which took inspiration from The Fly as a normal man slowly morphs into a child-eating monster.

Clown received somewhat mixed reviews upon release because while it featured some unnerving scenes and gory horror, it never quite lived up to its potential. That said, Clown is still a lot of fun for horror fans and is widely available online. Clown can't currently be streamed from services such as Netflix, Hulu or Prime, but it can be streamed for free (with adverts) on the likes of Vudu Free or Tubi, according to Reelgood.

For those wishing to rent or purchase Clown, it can be found from most outlets, including Google Play, Amazon Video, iTunes, Redbox and many more. What's fun to note about Clown now is that while director Eli Roth's name is all over the poster and home releases as producer, its director has since become a major name. Clown was co-written and helmed by Jon Watts, who would later helm Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 and would direct Tom Holland's subsequent two solo adventures Far From Home and 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Further cementing his move away from his low-budget horror roots, he's set to direct the next reboot of The Fantastic Four movie franchise. Clown wasn't much of a success when it was released, but it has found a cult following of sorts in recent years.
