The Circle season 1 introduced Netflix watchers to the incomparable personality of Joey Sasso. Joey's enthusiasm throughout the game was beloved, along with his determination to make authentic connections with other players. While others chose to strategically play a catfish, Joey stayed true to himself. His genuine good-natured humor came across to the other contestants, as well as viewers. Now that the series has reached five seasons, it's impossible to forget the cast from The Circle season 1. The exuberant Joey has been keeping fans updated on his life since he won in 2020.

Joey told Screen Rant in an interview in 2020 that he doesn't think The Circle season 1 cast will ever be repeated. The season was special, in his eyes, because everyone decided to trust each other by the end. Joey recalled feeling guilty after doubting Antonio DePína, who turned out to be who he said he was. From that moment on, Joey decided to play as if everyone was who they said they were. By the end of the season, he ranked competitors with his heart rather than strategy. The other cast members did the same, and Joey won the $100,000 grand prize after being ranked number 1.
