Once upon a time, Cinderella was introduced to the world. As a Disney princess, this character is an icon, with her rags-to-riches story, her glass slipper and her happily ever after.

Like all other people, whether real or fictional, this character is made up of positive and negative quirks. These make her more or less relatable and more or less likable (Who could not love her, though?), and these characteristics helped to tell her story through her movie, back in 1950. And down below here, Cinderella’s five best and five worst personality traits are listed out for all to see.

She Is Positive

Without a doubt, one of this character’s top traits is her positivity. She did not have it easy, but through it all, she remained sweet, optimistic, and smiley. In fact, her most popular song, A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, is all about dreaming, wishing, and never giving up on that.

Yes, her bright determination has always been super inspiring.

She May Have Been A Bit Of A Pushover

Can someone be too positive and sweet, though? Some may call Cinderella a pushover. She was in a tough position, as a young girl trapped by an evil stepmother. There are definitely those (in real life and from the Disney universe) who would have stood up to Lady Tremaine, spoken out against her, ignored her orders, and/or ran away from home.

Living with her stepmom did provide her with food and shelter, but it also came with bossy orders and rude demands.

She Is Strong

There were times when Cinderella did speak up for herself, showing her strength. Plus, for years, she cleaned a huge house, carried around buckets of water, fed a variety of animals, and held heavy piles of clothes for her evil stepsisters.

It would have definitely taken a strong person to do all of that and to remain so perfect during it all.

She Could Have Spoken Up More For Herself

While being a possible pushover is one negative trait fans may see in Cinderella, so is the lack of a voice. First, of course, there were all the times she allowed her stepfamily to boss her around and bark at her.

Then, when she met the prince, she was not completely honest with him; she ran away, leaving him confused, and she stayed quiet about the whole thing. What if he had not shown up with that glass slipper? Would she ever have escaped or ended up with him?

She Is Kind

Disney's Cinderella

Something else great about this leading lady is her kindness. There were times, in her movie, when she displayed courteous behavior towards Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella.

She was certainly affectionate towards her mice friends. And any time she came into contact with anyone, she had a polite warmth to her.

She Does Have A Sarcastic/Snarky Side

Those who know this film well know that Cinderella could also be sarcastic and a little snarky, too, which is not always expected from a Disney princess! This was, for sure, seen during the scenes with Lucifer, her stepmother’s cat; she jokingly called him “your majesty”, and she let the door bump into him (when he took forever to leave a room).

As a gentle human being, however, Cinderella lectured Bruno on his rude behavior towards Lucifer. She understood where it was coming from, but she did not like that the family dog was dreaming of catching the cat.

She Is Hardworking

Hardworking is an additional top quality seen in this character, and once again, it goes back to her time at home; the chores and the unfairness piled up every single day, and this dainty and darling princess did it all.

She is a hero.

She Was Scared Of/Taken Advantage Of By Her Stepmother

Lady Tremaine in Cinderella

As one of the nicest humans ever, Cinderella obeyed her stepmother. But she also feared her, which was not good. The years of abuse had scarred her, and she would go out of her way to be even nicer and even more obedient, so not to upset Lady Tremaine.

And Lady Tremaine knew that Cinderella was sweet and would do literally anything. Therefore, she took advantage of her and got pleasure from that. So while this was more of a tough situation than an actual trait, it was still very sad to see a Disney princess in this weak and abused state.

She Is A True Princess

Lastly, on the list of Cinderella’s best characteristics, it should be noted that she really became a princess, and that as a Disney princess, she is a legend!

The perfect hair and outfits, the love story with Prince Charming, the magic of her tale, the ability to sing and make pals with animals… These are common elements from this brand, and while every Disney character is special, this one, in particular, has always been a real stand-out star.

She Blurred The Lines On Cleanliness

If one more not-so-great trait had to be listed, it may have to do with cleanliness.

On one hand, Cinderella scrubbed a house from top to bottom each and every day. But then, in the comfort of her own room, she had mice all over the place. Now, these were cute and friendly little guys, but it really just makes one question her viewpoint on hygiene and such!
