Who plays the dreamy Prince Robert in Amazon Prime’s Cinderella movie? With big names like Camila Cabello (Cinderella), Idina Menzel (Stepmother Vivian), Pierce Brosnan (King Rowan), and Billy Porter (Fabulous Godmother), to name a few, the film’s a star-studded magical event. The actor playing Prince Robert might not be an instantly recognizable icon, but he’s able to hold his own and capture hearts as the darling prince opposite Cabello’s Elle.

Kay Cannon’s adaptation of the classic Cinderella story can be watched on Amazon Prime (breaking away from the Disney tradition). The 2021 movie spins a rather modern take on the age-old tale: In this version, Cinderella is enterprising and the Fairy Godmother is a man called “Fabulous Godmother” instead. It also has themes touching on current socio-political issues, including equality and women’s rights, and Prince Robert potentially plays an active role in those.

Nicholas Galitzine plays Prince Robert in the 2021 version of Cinderella. Galitzine’s Prince Robert is more nuanced than the typical two-dimensional prince, and this makes him that much more captivating and intriguing to watch. Cinderella is Galitzine's biggest role to date, but audiences may recognize him from a number of films and TV shows.

The London-born actor debuted on the big screen in 2014’s Beat Beneath My Feet as troubled teen Tom; he also performed several songs for the soundtrack, demonstrating his musical chops. This was immediately followed by an appearance on the TV Series Legends, season 2, episode 5, “The Legend of Terrence Graves” in 2015. In 2016, he starred as Johnnie Blackwell in High Strung and then as Conor Masters in Handsome Devil in the same year. Galitzine was cast in minor roles in The Changeover and in the 2017 remake of The Watcher in the Woods.

In 2019 Galitzine landed his first major role as Elliott Lefevre in the Netflix Series Chambers, alongside Uma Thurman. It was also the year when he appeared as one of the key characters in the Sundance film Share. The 26-year-old actor has been in the public eye for several years now, but has yet to break out into the mainstream. Had Cinderella been a hit, Prince Robert may have made him into a household name. It also doesn’t help that the initial reviews for 2021's Cinderella are mostly negative. Prince Robert is Galitzine’s first major role after Chambers, which Netflix canceled after just one season; as an actor with musical talent, Galitzine has potential — but how Cinderella does will undoubtedly influence his career trajectory. Whichever role he takes on next, he will always be the disarmingly charming Prince Robert.
