Three New Images of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Check out three new images from 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,' which sets sail this Christmas season.

This Christmas season, the Chronicles of Narnia series is back with its third film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

In anticipation of the rapidly approaching release, Fox has released three new images from the film.

Coming our way from the Voyage of the Dawn Treader Official UK Facebook Page, the images give us a look at Lucy, Eustace, Prince Caspian, and the mighty little mouse Reepicheep.

Check out the images below, followed by a bit more information about Voyage of the Dawn Treader for the Narnia newbies out there. You can click on each image for a slightly larger version.

While I was unsure about the film from the first trailer, I'm getting increasingly excited with each new trailer. It looks like Treader will be an enjoyable and action-packed family film, which is important to have during the holiday season.

For those unfamiliar with the Narnia series, Voyage of the Dawn Treader revolves around the two youngest Pevensie children, Edmund and Lucy, and their cousin Eustace Scrubb. The three are transported back into Narnia via a magical painting (no wardrobes this time) and taken aboard the Dawn Treader, captained by Prince Caspian. After establishing peace in Narnia, Caspian has set out to find the lost Lords of Narnia. The story follows the ship and its crew during this quest, leading them into dangerous islands and a wealth of adventures (Apologies if the above sentences made me sound like I work for Fox's publicity department).

It's been a while since I've read it, but I recall The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader being one of my favorite books in the entire Narnia series. I think it strikes the right balance of a fun, fantasy story while also delivering C.S. Lewis' trademark Christian themes and messages. Any other Narnia fans out there agree?

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader hits theaters in the U.S. on December 10th, 2010.
