In the last decade, Chris Hemsworth has gone from a little-known Australian actor to one of the biggest stars in the movie business. He first came to Hollywood's attention with his brief but memorable role in Star Trek before becoming a household name as Thor in the MCU.

Since then, Hemsworth has continued to show his charm, humor, and muscles in a variety of roles. While not all of his movies have been huge hits with audiences, he has been a part of some of the highest-ranked movies of all time, according to IMDb. Have a look at the lows and the highs of Hemsworth's career thus far.

Worst: Red Dawn (2012) 5.4

Chris Hemsworth

The classic action movie Red Dawn is a perfect cheesy '80s romp about a group of teens who form a guerilla army when the United States is invaded. The premise doesn't work so well when it is transplanted into modern times.

The film was made before Hemsworth had been cast in the MCU but sat on the shelf until he had become a star. Unfortunately, the early leading role for him isn't his best work, and fans of the original movie were very let down by this dull retelling.

Worst: Blackhat (2015) 5.4

The idea of Hemsworth working with acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann seemed like a promising partnership, but the end result was a real disappointment. Hemsworth stars as a hacker who is saved from a prison sentence when he is recruited to help take down a cyber-crime network.

Despite the talents of Mann and Hemsworth, neither seemed like a good fit for this particular story. The script took what could have been an engrossing thriller story and turned it into a slow and tedious slog.

Worst: Men in Black: International (2019) 5.6

Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth in Men in Black International

After proving their charming chemistry in Thor: Ragnarok, Hemsworth reteamed with Tessa Thompson for this reboot of the Men in Black franchise. The duo forms a new team of agents looking to protect Earth from intergalactic threats.

Instead of revitalizing the tired franchise, Men in Black: International seemed to kill it. Many fans felt like it was a rushed cash-grab of the title without actually considering what made the original movie so popular.

Worst: Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019) 5.7

Kevin Smith returned to his most famous characters in an attempt to reignite his filmmaking career. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot finds the stoners rehashing their previous adventure, setting out to shut down a reboot of the comic book movie based on their own lives. Hemsworth is one of many famous faces to pop up in a cameo.

While die-hard fans of Smith's cinematic universe will probably find some fun here, many found these characters far past their prime. The story seems to exist only to allow constant pop culture references and in-jokes, most of which fall flat.

Worst: Ca$h (2010) 6.0

Just as Hemsworth was on the cusp of stardom, he popped up in this bargain-bin thriller. Sean Bean stars as a deranged gangster who tracks down his missing heist money to a young couple who happened upon the lost cash. Now the criminal is forcing them into an escalating series of crimes to pay him back.

Ca$h wastes its intriguing premise and stellar cast on a by-the-numbers crime story. Bean seems to be having some fun, but there just isn't enough here to save it from being a forgotten entry into the crime genre.

Best: Thor: Ragnarok (2017) 7.9

Chris Hemsworth in Thor Ragnarok

After the first two solo Thor films garnered lackluster reception, the MCU decided to take the character in a whole new direction. Taika Waititi was brought in to direct Thor: Ragnarok, a colorful, hilarious, and energetic cosmic adventure that made Thor cool again.

Hemsworth really shines in this new take on the character and is clearly having a lot of fun letting loose. There are a lot of fun new and old characters joining him on this wild ride that is one of the most rewatchable MCU movies to date.

Best: The Avengers (2012) 8.0

Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson in The Avengers

The gamble of the MCU proved to have paid off with the ambitious team-up movie, The Avengers. Hemsworth joined the other established heroes as they assembled to take on Loki, who plans to conquer Earth.

What could have turned into an embarrassing failure ended up being one of the most influential films of the last decade. It showed the fun a cinematic universe could deliver and fans were thrilled to see these iconic characters sharing the big screen in such an entertaining adventure.

Best: Rush (2013) 8.1

James and Nicki argue in Rush

Ron Howard directed this true story set in the world of Formula One racing. Rush details the intense rivalry between two of the sport's most talented racers, James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl).

Howard does a great job directing the dangerous and exhilarating race sequences. The relationship between these two men is also fascinating as it dances between hatred and friendship. Brühl gives an especially impressive performance as the eccentric Lauda.

Best: Avengers: Infinity War (2018) 8.4

Thor faces off with Thanos in Avengers Infinity War

Following the fun of Thor: Ragnarok, things got a lot darker in the MCU. Avengers: Infinity War finds Thanos stepping into the spotlight as one of the most formidable villains in the MCU.

Hemsworth was able to continue to explore his new take on Thor while having a substantial role in the huge ensemble. It was the biggest MCU movie to date, filled with hilarious moments, crowd-pleasing reveals, and some devastating twists that changed this universe forever.

Best: Avengers: Endgame (2019) 8.4

Avengers Endgame Thor Stormbreaker Mjolnir Chris Hemsworth

Following the events of Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame had the difficult task of delivering a satisfying and epic ending to this massive storyline. The devastated heroes that were left behind all deal with their loss in their own ways before attempting one last mission to save the day.

Despite the high expectations, Endgame delivered an emotional, funny, and fitting conclusion. Hemsworth steals the show with his hilarious yet touching performance as a damaged Thor while the movie itself delivers some of the most unforgettable cinematic moments in recent memory.
