Chris Hemsworth pokes fun at his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new social media post. The God of Thunder is among the only three original Avengers who are still in the MCU following the events of the Infinity Saga. Hemsworth has played the role of Thor for more than 10 years now, appearing in four standalone Thor movies and four Avengers crossover projects. Following the recent release of Thor: Love and Thunder, it doesn't seem that Hemsworth's MCU hero is leaving the franchise any time soon. For many years, Marvel Studios struggled to find the right approach to Thor. This is why, despite being dubbed as one of the MCU's Big Three, the God of Thunder and Hemsworth didn't get the same fanfare as Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Chris Evans' Captain America in his early years on screen. However, that was until Thor got a character revamp via 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. Between that and his final arc in the Infinity Saga, Hemsworth has finally made the role his own. But even after all this time, it turns out that the actor had a different favorite superhero when he was younger.Related: Marvel’s Multiverse Saga Is In Trouble In An Unexpected WayIn celebration of his birthday this year, Hemsworth shared a throwback childhood photo on social media. Interestingly, the future MCU actor is dressed as Batman in the image. In his caption, Hemsworth cheekily wrote that his "younger self would be so disappointed." Check out the image below:

Hemsworth's adorable childhood photo was clearly posted as a joke. However, it is understandable that the actor's younger self was drawn to Batman. The iconic DC character has been extremely popular for decades, as one of the first comic book characters to make it big in both animation and live-action movies and TV. Contrastingly, Thor only became a major player in pop culture with The Avengers. What's more, there have been several live-action iterations of the Caped Crusader from Adam West, to Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, and the most recent Robert Pattinson, which essentially gives each generation their own Batman, and Hemsworth would long have been familiar with the character.

While Thor isn't quite as popular as Batman among the wider population given the God of Thunder's recent live-action entry, Hemsworth has helped to establish the character as one of the most iconic superheroes of this generation. His portrayal of the Asgardian prince is a beloved one, which is just one of the reasons that Thor's journey has continued well past Endgame. While seeing Hemsworth take up the mantle of DC's Batman would certainly be an intriguing crossover, many audiences are glad that the young boy in this throwback photo made the MCU his home.
