Chris Hemsworth can now be added to the list of actors done filming Avengers 4. Marvel Studios is nearing the end of the their craziest production yet. To start 2017, the studio began filming Avengers: Infinity War and Untitled Avengers back-to-back. The lengthy shoot has seen just about every single person to ever be in a Marvel movie stop by. This includes the Marvel Cinematic Universe's biggest stars, as they'll be front and center in the battle against Thanos. Now that 2018 is upon us, production is coming to a close.
Several MCU stars have already finished filming, some of whom have been much busier than others. Hemsworth for instance has had little time off between filming Thor: Ragnarok and the next two Avengers movies. Even though the final one doesn't hit theaters till May 2019, Thor's part is now done.
Collider's Steven Weintraub spoke to Hemsworth today as he promotes his upcoming film 12 Strong, and in the interview the god of Thunder confirmed he is done filming. He revealed he just wrapped filming yesterday. Following the mega-success of Ragnarok, audiences are eager to see more of Thor, and will get to do so in just a few months.
Even though Black Panther is the last film before Thanos' arrival, it will likely be Ragnarok that plays more as the precursor. It may not have had an Infinity Stone like many believe Black Panther will, but the arcs it sets up are just as important. Thor is now the true god of thunder and learned to fully use his powers without Mjolnir. Hulk is becoming much smarter, and thankfully the Infinity War trailer confirmed we haven't seen the last of Bruce Banner.
We don't know much of anything when it comes to the story of Avengers 4, but leading into it, Thor is set to be an important part. The Infinity War trailer finally showed him alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy, and may even tease him crafting his new weapon. The Russo brothers meanwhile teased how they're continuing Thor's radical transformation. Whatever happens to Thor in Infinity War is just the start, as Avengers 4 will wrap things up - and possibly end Hemsworth's run as Thor in the process. Set photos indicate a flashback to the end of The Avengers with Thor's long locks back, but the context around it is not clear.
Now that Hemsworth is done filming, he joins Jeremy Renner, Scarlet Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany as actors who have confirmed they are wrapped. Surely there are others, and with filming winding down, it shouldn't be long before an official announcement is made that the movie is done. Once that happens, fans will only have to wait another full year to see whats in store.
