Avengers star, Chris Evans, responded to a pregnancy joke Lizzo made on her TikTok account. Lizzo responded to a fan’s comment, pretending to confirm that she was pregnant with Evans’ child. However, this isn’t the first interaction between the Captain America star and singer.
In April, Lizzo revealed on TikTok that she’d accidentally slid into Evans’ direct messages on Instagram after drinking too much. She’d messaged Evans a series of emojis roughly translating to the phrase ‘shooting my shot.' Later, she announced to her followers that Evans had replied to her drunk message, joking that he’d ‘done worse’ on the social media app, referencing when he accidentally shared an NSFW photo of himself in 2020. After a fan teasingly continued the fabricated romance between the singer and actor by joking that everyone knew she was pregnant, Lizzo pretended to announce that she was having a baby with Evans, claiming they would have a 'little America.’
Evans, humorously onboard with the running gag, responded in a Direct Message to Lizzo, who gleefully shared it on her TikTok account. Check out his response below:
“Hi! Just heard about our little bundle of joy my mother will be so happy lol. (Just promise me no gender reveal parties lol).”

The response affirms that the superhero has a sense of humor and isn’t afraid to join in on jokes at his expense. His reference to his mother being happy indicates that she has been eagerly anticipating a grandchild from one of her two sons. Over the years, the actor has been linked to multiple famous women. He dated Jessica Biel for five years from 2001, before she married Justin Timberlake. He was also in a high-profile relationship with Jenny Slate, whom he met while filming Gifted (2017), but they split quickly after conflicting work schedules and an onslaught of verbal abuse from fans. Evans has also been the victim of many dating rumors, from Sandra Bullock to fellow Captain America: Civil War star Elizabeth Olsen to Pam & Tommy, lead Lily James. Along with Lizzo, it seems the star has no shortage of romantic rumors.
In an interview for Gifted, Evans revealed that he wants to be a father and have children, so despite the false baby announcement being a joke, the discourse is rooted in one of the actor’s deepest desires. Surrounded by his Avengers co-stars, who are all married or have children, this topic, while he plays on it lightly, might be an area of vulnerability for the star who turned 40 this year. After his DM, Lizzo took to TikTok again to announce Evans’ acknowledgment, excitedly exclaiming that her fans can name ‘Lil Merica.’ It appears that this running joke will continue for now, as long as Chris Evans is comfortable participating.
