Lightyear star Chris Evans has revealed his childhood ambition prior to becoming one of Hollywood's biggest stars. Following a series of standout performances and having already established himself as a talented actor, Evans saw his star rise exponentially after he was welcomed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2011 as Steve Rogers/Captain America. Outside of his role as one of the MCU's most integral characters, Evans has also starred in huge film projects such as Rian Johnson's Knives Out, as well as Netflix's upcoming action-thriller, The Gray Man.

Evans' most recent performance, however, saw him take a step away from the camera and instead enter the recording booth, as he provided the voice for Lightyear's titular character. The animated Pixar film serves as an in-universe origin story of the galactic hero that inspired the creation of the Buzz Lightyear toy from Pixar's original Toy Story films. Having taken over the role from Tim Allen, Evans stars alongside Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, Uzo Aduba, and James Brolin as the film follows a group of space-rangers, led by led by Evans' Buzz Lightyear, as they embark on a wild and time-travelling mission.

Evans recently sat down with Buzzfeed for his highly-anticipated installment of the platform's beloved 'puppy interview,' which sees stars play with puppies while answering a series of questions. The interview offered some fun bits of trivia about the star, with one question in particular asking which profession Evans would have taken up had he not become an actor. An avid dog-lover, Evans offered a short answer as he became somewhat distracted by the puppies that surrounded him, revealing that he previously liked the idea of becoming an animator:

"When I was younger I really wanted to be an animator."

Evans' reveal of his younger self's previous ambitions marks a sweet full-circle moment for the actor, who previously opened up about how it was a dream come true for him to take on the role of Lightyear and to work with Pixar. Having grown up with the studio's beloved animated films, including the Toy Story franchise itself, Evans discussed how he was initially intimidated by Buzz Lightyear's iconic "To infinity and beyond" line. However, he worked with the film's creators to craft his own unique voice for this iteration of Buzz character. While a young Evans may have once dreamed of a career in animation, this ultimately proved to be the case — albeit in a different role.

It's hard to imagine a world in which Evans is not the prominent face in Hollywood that he is today, with an incredibly impressive career under his belt littered with iconic characters. However, it's certainly sweet to hear that the actor previously had an interest in animation, which is likely to have made the process of creating Lightyear all the more special for Evans. With a number of exciting projects on the way, it's fair to say that Evans likely has his hands full for the time being, but who knows what the future could hold if the actor ever chooses to step behind the camera and create his own animated project.
