The most popular game mode in MLB The Show 21 is and always has been Road To The Show. RTTS allows players to create an upcoming rookie and progress them through the minor league all the way up to the majors.

Progressing a player is different this year, however, the way you progress depends on what loadout you have equipped and equipment you have attached to that loadout. Equipment can be unlocked in multiple ways and the game doesn't necessarily explain how it works or how to put it on. Here's how to unlock and equip new equipment on your player.

Unlocking equipment in MLB The Show 21 is relatively straightforward. Play games and level up different programs within any mode and players can unlock card packs that can contain different pieces of equipment. However, unlocking the RIGHT equipment can be a little more confusing.

Looking at the character screen, hover over the loadout icon and hit Square/X to bring up your character's position program. As you complete programs associated with that program, whether it be for a speeding shortstop or slugging 1st basement, different perks and pieces of equipment become available for players to choose. Equipment ranges anywhere from common rarity all the way up to diamond which can drastically improve certain stats. Choosing the right equipment can make the difference between striking out and getting hits when it comes to batting.

How To Put On Equipment In MLB The Show 21

Now that the equipment has been unlocked, it's time to actually put it on. Looking at the character screen, there are different icons from head-to-toe and each of these can have a piece of equipment equipped. To do this, simply hover over any icon that's available and it will tell players what pieces of equipment they have for that spot and allow them to put them on. Baseball bats typically help with batting, gloves with fielding and pitching, and cleats for speed and base running. Other pieces of equipment include sunglasses, catcher gear, and ritual items that aren't cosmetic in any way, but help increase overall attributes depending on what their player does before a game.

RTTS is a lot of fun this year, and having different pieces of equipment to customize players is a fun way to try out different loadouts, increase attributes, and add a touch of personality as well.
