When it comes to Chinese Zodiac signs, Monkeys are unique creatures. They're wild and lively, love having fun, and enjoying their lives to the fullest. That's one of the reasons why it's not unusual to meet a Monkey who enjoys a good rom-com.

Monkeys might not be the most romantic of all Zodiac signs, but that doesn't mean they're heartless and if given the chance, they will cheer and cry for their favorite fictional couple, or laugh at the couple's jokes. But not always. Here are 5 romantic comedies that Monkeys will love and 5 they will hate.

Will Love: Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day

Let's kick this list off with a classic. Groundhog Day has its main hero, brilliantly portrayed by Bill Murray, live out the same day over and over again. At least until he learns to be a better person and finds the love of his life.

Playing with time and thinking about absurd situations is exactly that type of thing Monkeys enjoy since they're both intelligent and have a strong sense of humor.

Will Hate: Just Friends

Monkeys are generally caring people but they can sometimes have trouble forming long-lasting relationships because they tend to focus primarily on themselves and then others. They also can be very rational even in relationships and when in love.

That's why they most likely won't enjoy the movie Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds since its main hero makes many unnecessary mistakes that Monkeys could find silly.

Will Love: Yesterday

Similarly to Groundhog Day, Danny Boyle's film Yesterday also introduces a simple, but brilliant concept. What would happen if an unsuccessful musician suddenly was the only one who can remember the Beatles' songs? You can probably guess the answer for yourself.

Monkeys are open-minded people who like to contemplate a lot of strange scenarios, so they're bound to enjoy this one as well. Especially if they also happen to like Ed Sheeran who has a smaller, but great part in the film.

Will Hate: How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days

One of the advantages of being friends with someone born in the sign of the Monkey is that your friend will always tell you the truth. Monkeys tend to be very open about their feelings and thoughts, sometimes to the level they can seem a bit heartless.

They value communication and might not be inclined to accept the premise of this film which stems from its heroes lying to one another instead of just having a sensible conversation like two adult people should be able to have.

Will Love: Playing It Cool

Monkeys can watch films that faithfully portray everyday lives, but why would they? They often prefer films that introduce the element of the unknown since it allows their wild imaginations to roam free.

Playing It Cool stars Chris Evans as a screenwriter who's tasked to write a romantic comedy. The only problem? He's never been in love. Evans' hero has a rich imagination and he allows reality and fantasy to blend which will make this film interesting to Monkeys.

Will Hate: Tamara Drewe

Tamara Drewe movie reviews

Tamara Drewe is a less-known British rom-com starring Gemma Arterton. The main reason why Monkeys might not enjoy the film so much is that its heroes are actually somewhat terrible people.

Monkeys know that nobody is perfect but they're more interested in heroes who use their minds to solve problems and try to act rational, even if it doesn't always work out the way they planned.

Will Love: Charade

This Audrey Hepburn film will celebrate its sixtieth birthday in just three years but it hasn't lost any of its youthful charms. The story is complicated and focuses on a woman whose husband disappears, the CIA agents go after her, and she also meets a uniquely grumpy but charming man (Cary Grant).

The film is wild and crazy, with many unexpected situations, so no lively Monkey will get bored by watching it. Plus, Hepburn and Grant are brilliant together.

Will Hate: A Cinderella Story

Monkeys may sometimes look distracted and absentminded since they're creative individuals with a lot on their minds but they actually are very intelligent. And they require the same intelligence from other people which can make it difficult to get along with them.

A Cinderella Story is based on the concept that a guy won't recognize a girl just because she's wearing a pretty dress and a small mask, and that might be too impossible for the Monkeys to accept.

Will Love: Wimbledon

Monkeys are one of the most active Chinese Zodiac signs and it's difficult to make them stay in one place for too long without doing anything. They often enjoy sports and travel, so they might also like this film about tennis.

Paul Bettany plays a tennis player whose best days are seemingly behind him. At least until he meets a talented and upcoming tennis star portrayed by Kirsten Dunst. An unlikely pairing, but it still works, and this film offers plenty of hilarious moments.

Will Hate: The Accidental Husband

Monkeys are people of many contradictions. They like to toy with the idea of absurd situations and what-ifs, but at the same time, they can be overly analytical of everything they see. Generally speaking, it's more likely for them to accept things like time travel than people behaving in an illogical way.

In The Accidental Husband, the heroes get into situations that often cross outside the realm of believable and the film might, therefore, quickly lose Monkeys' interest.
