The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ended with the death of Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka), but if season 5 ever were to happen, there are a few ways she could return. A talented and powerful teenage witch, Sabrina often caused more harm than good. At the end of season 3, she created a paradox by allowing two versions of herself - Sabrina Spellman and Sabrina Morningstar - to exist simultaneously, one on Earth, and one in Hell.

Surprisingly, both versions of Sabrina die in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4. Sabrina Morningstar dies after passing from the universe of the Endless Eldritch Terror back into the true universe, and Sabrina Spellman dies in a bloodletting ritual in order to contain the Void that had housed itself in her. Even more surprising is that both deaths stem from selfless acts of sacrifice. Sabrina often makes selfish choices, so the fact that she dies when she does something right is jarring.

While there will be no televised season 5 of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina unless another network or streaming service picks it up, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa plans to carry on Sabrina's story in a comic entitled "Witch War," which will even include a crossover with RiverdaleBoth Sabrinas' deaths appear very final, so how could she return, either in a hypothetical season 5 or the comics? From magical favors to old fashioned resurrection, here are some of the possibilities for her return.

The Cain Pit

One of the biggest plot holes from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4 is why no one thought to resurrect Sabrina Spellman using the Cain Pit. The Cain Pit is a grave at the Spellman Mortuary that can revive witches. Aunt Zelda (Miranda Otto) and Sabrina both use it throughout season 1: Zelda to resurrect Aunt Hilda (Lucy Davis), and Sabrina to resurrect Agatha (Adeline Rudolph). There are a few caveats to the Cain Pit's use that may explain why it was not used to resurrect Sabrina: first, if a person is dead for more than 13 minutes, the magic will not work. Second, the Cain Pit's magic is tied to Lucifer Morningstar's (Luke Cook) powers. When the coven turned to worshipping Hecate, it's possible that they lost the use of the pit.

However, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has often treated its magic rules loosely, or created new rules all together that can be of aid to its protagonists. An element of the story's continuation could be trying to find out how to bring the Cain Pit's magic back, and one possibility to do so is through Lilith (Michelle Gomez). Lilith stabbed Lucifer with the Spear of Longinus in the season 4 finale, breaking his curse on her and returning her powers. If the witches of Greendale turned to her, they could link her power to the Cain Pit to resurrect Sabrina. The alliance between Lilith and the coven would provide an interesting dynamic for the show or comics to explore.

Necromancy Or Other Magics

Past seasons of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina have seen the resurrection of people such as Harvey Kinkle's (Ross Lynch) brother through means other than the Cain Pit. Unfortunately, these resurrections often meant that the person returned as husks of their former selves. Still, Sabrina's cousin Ambrose Spellman (Chance Perdomo) is a master necromancer, so if anyone is able to figure out how to use the Dark Arts to bring back Sabrina from the Sweet Hereafter, it would be him. Following his quest to save his cousin could help explore his character and his deep knowledge of magic.

Another potential magic source to resurrect Sabrina is a character who appears throughout season 4: the Trinket Man. The Trinket Man possesses many of the world's most powerful objects, including the Stone of Omphalos, the Imp of the Perverse, and Pandora's Box. It's likely that he could also have an object that could bring back a long-dead soul such as Sabrina's. If he returned with a solution to help her, it could also help clarify the mysteries surrounding his identity, potentially introducing a new powerful being to this universe.

Summoning Her Soul

Sabrina's friends and family could summon her soul back into her body, similarly to what they did in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4 finale. In that episode, Sabrina Spellman went into the Void to trap it with Pandora's Box, but her Aunts, Ambrose, and Nick (Gavin Leatherwood) called her soul back into Sabrina Morningstar's body. Nick later ventured into space to retrieve Sabrina Spellman's body and Pandora's Box.

While Morningstar's body housed the Void and was damaged from the bloodletting, Spellman's body may be able to hold her soul again. Summoning her back from the Sweet Hereafter might feel like a re-tread of the season 4 finale, but it does create some interesting conflict: namely, does Sabrina even want to be brought back? She seems content to spend the rest of eternity with Nick, and bringing her back would separate them. It would also raise the question of what kind of agency her soul has, which could be a fascinating query for the show to explore.

Baron Samedi

In one of the strangest twists from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ending, Mambo Marie (Skye Marshall), the Voodoo priestess who began a relationship with Zelda, reveals herself to be Baron Samedi. Baron Samedi is a powerful Haitian loa who oversees the spirits of death and rebirth. Before transforming, Marie gives Zelda a box, telling her that she will come to her when she shakes it.

Zelda could use this as a favor and ask Baron Samedi to return Sabrina's soul from the dead. However, it is unclear whether Baron Samedi's powers extend to the Sweet Hereafter or whether he would be willing to further confuse the worlds of the living and the dead. While it would be interesting to explore Voodoo further in the show and important to showcase multicultural forms of magic, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has often stumbled when it comes to its treatment of characters of color, including Marie. If the story were to continue along these lines, writers would have to be make sure they were representing this belief system with respect.

Her Journey In The Afterlife

Sabrina and Nick in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Ending

The boldest choice of all - and potentially the most interesting - would see both Nick and Sabrina remain dead. The Sweet Hereafter looks like a relatively calm place, but Sabrina has never been one for calm. She would surely go looking for adventure, maybe searching for Sabrina Morningstar's soul so the two of them could be reunited. She could even find a way to communicate with her friends and family from the Afterlife so that there isn't too much of a disconnect between the different storylines.

This route would also give the franchise an opportunity to explore Heaven, which viewers got a brief glimpse of in season 4, episode 5, "Deus Ex Machina." By introducing a whole new realm for Sabrina to exist in, as well as a new set of rules to abide by, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina could go in a completely fresh direction. This would by no means make up for the show's romanticizing of suicide or the rushed ending, but it would give viewers more closure than that offered by the season 4 finale.
