Another spooky season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has released, and the ending sets up intriguing possibilities for season 4. Based on the Archie Comics series and developed for TV by Archie CCO Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Kiernan Shipka as the titular teenage witch, who is torn between her magical heritage and her love for her mortal friends.
In Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 3, Sabrina sets out to rescue her boyfriend, Nick Scratch, from Hell and free him from his torturous role as a flesh prison for Lucifer. The imbalance in Hell also triggers a resurgence of the Pagan gods and their worshippers, who make a move to stake their claim on Greendale just as Sabrina's coven, the Church of Night, finds its powers depleted.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Has Been Renewed For Season 4
While Netflix shows have a habit of being cancelled after three seasons, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been spared that fate. The series was renewed for seasons 3 and 4 back in December 2018, so we can expect to see Sabrina, Salem, and the whole family return to our screens for at least eight more episodes.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 4 Release Date
Fans can expect to see Chilling Adventures of Sabrina return for season 4 sooner rather than later. The series has a rather confusing structure; technically it's still only on season 2 at the moment, since Netflix considers the show to be made up of seasons that are split into two parts. Season 1 was comprised of Part 1 and Part 2, and Part 3 is the first half of season 2. What that means on a practical level is that Part 3 and Part 4 were filmed back-to-back, so Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4 will likely release in late 2020.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 4 Story
Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 3.
After spending season 3 torn between her loyalty to her mortal friends, efforts to repair her coven, and trying to secure her place as the Queen of Hell, Sabrina comes up with a clever idea in the season finale. Using a strange egg recovered from Loch Ness by Ambrose, she goes back in time to prevent the end of the world, and then goes to meet her past self. She makes a deal with the other Sabrina: one of them will stay behind and rule over Hell, while the other will return to Greendale and enjoy a Hell-free life with her friends at both Baxter High School and the Academy of Unseen Arts.
For Sabrina it's the perfect solution, but Ambrose is horrified when she tells him what she's done. By allowing two different Sabrinas to exist in the world, she's created a time paradox that could have terrible ramifications. To make matters worse, Father Blackwood now worships eldritch horrors that are even older than the Pagan gods, and at the very end of the season he breaks open the egg and releases a mysterious creature with time-manipulating powers into the world.
All of this means that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4 is likely to continue playing around with time travel, perhaps even expanding into alternate universes. The threat of the Pagan gods may be gone now that Hell is stabilized, but by destabilizing time itself Sabrina has opened the doors for even more dark and terrible beings. Moreover, now that there are two versions of Sabrina we may see the newly crowned Queen of Hell blossom into a villain, forcing Earth's Sabrina to fight an evil version of herself.
