Even though the first season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina hasn't even aired on Netflix yet, the second season is already filming. The upcoming show is based on the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic books written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and illustrated by Robert Hack and centers around Sabrina Spellman, who must choose between the world of witches or the human world.

The first mention of the new Sabrina came when Aguirre-Sacasa, who is also the creator of The CW's Riverdale, explained in 2017 that having Sabrina in Riverdale was a possibility. Soon after it was revealed that The CW was indeed developing Riverdale spinoff series, which would focus on Sabrina. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina then moved to Netflix, with the streaming service ordering two seasons with ten episodes each. Even though fans knew a second season would for sure be happening, it appears that the remaining ten episodes are already filming.

After speaking with Sabrina actress Kiernan Shipka, Bloody Disgusting discovered that Netflix was wasting no time when it came to filming season 2 of the show. Shipka explained that, "We went straight into the second season from the first and it’s been really so exceptionally fun to film, especially given the fact that I feel like we’re already in such a rhythm from coming out of the first season that to jump right into the second one was really, really fun and just a great opportunity to keep the momentum going". Shipka also suggested that her character's actions in season 1 directly affect season 2 and that the second season will be a lot different than the first.

Shipka was cast as Sabrina back at the beginning of this year. Besides Sabrina, the two other important characters in the series are Sabrina's Aunts named Hilda and Zelda. Actress Mirando Otto was cast as Zelda and Lucy Davis as Hilda. After casting their stars, Netflix added Disney star Ross Lynch as Sabrina's boyfriend and Tati Gabrielle as the leader of the Weird Sisters named Prudence.

Even though Shipka is only 18-years-old, she has been acting since 2006. She previously starred on AMC's Mad Men as Sally Draper for 89 episodes and also appeared on Ryan Murphy's FeudThe actress has already proven her acting ability in previous roles and she will now have the opportunity to show the world her talent again just in time for Halloween.

Riverdale quickly became a smash hit for The CW and with Aguirre-Sacasa attached to Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the odds are in Netflix's favor. After all, they had to have seen some potential in the show by ordering not one, but two seasons of the program. It's also a good sign that Shipka seems genuinely thrilled to be playing the role. Shipka almost played Betty on Riverdale, but it's probably for the best that she waited a few years to get her own Archie inspired TV show.
