Both, Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, began their journey from the same comic books publishing house over 75 years ago. The comics feature many crossovers between the magical realm of Sabrina Spellman and the everyday teenage escapades of Archie and the gang in Riverdale. However, fans have yet to see the characters crossover on the TV series.

Even though fans still haven’t witnessed a real crossover between the two shows, there are many easter eggs and hints laid out in each series referencing the other. Scroll below to explore such references in both Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to each other.

Riverdale Reference - Funeral Home

In season 1 of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Harvey’s brother tragically dies in the mines due to a spell cast by the Weird Sisters. After Sabrina tries to bring him back to life, and things don’t go according to plan, Harvey and his father begin to arrange Tommy’s funeral.

Not interested in doing any business with the Spellman family who owns a mortuary in Greendale, Harvey’s father chooses to work with a mortuary in the town of Riverdale, giving a subtle nod to the other TV series.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Reference - Greendale’s drug business

In season 2 of Riverdale, fans are introduced to Penny Peabody. Much like the rest of the Serpents and members of other gangs infiltrating Riverdale, Penny Peabody is usually up to no good.

After helping Jughead prove his dad's innocence, Penny comes back to have her favor returned. During this time, it is revealed that Penny is involved in many rackets, such as drugs smuggling in the town of Greendale, referring to Sabrina’s hometown.

Riverdale Reference - The Archies Thermos

Sabrina Spellman seems to have a unique choice of style when it comes to shopping for school supplies. In an episode of The Chilling Adventure of Sabrina, Miss Spellman is seen carrying an Archies thermos while eating lunch with her friends.

The thermos sports the comic book versions of Archie and the entire gang, once again referring to the Riverdale series.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Reference - The SoDale Project

A large chunk of Riverdale’s first season revolves around the SoDale project. Fred Andrews is devastated when his construction is halted because the workers quit at the start of the season, thanks to Clifford Blossom.

However, Hermione Lodge is quick to step in and help her former flame, Mr. Andrews, get his company back to order. In an episode, Hermione places calls to two neighbouring towns, Centerville and Greendale for construction crews, yet again referring to Sabrina’s magical town.

Riverdale Reference - Pop’s Chock'lit Shoppe

Fans of Riverdale are all well aware of the famous Pop’s Chock'lit Shoppe. This diner is featured in numerous episodes of the show, and also features some of the key scenes and riveting moments from Riverdale, such as the Black Hood shooting Mr. Andrews.

In the sixth episode of the latest instalment of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Aunt Hilda refers to the town of Riverdale by asking her boyfriend, Dr. Cerberus, to bring her some hamburgers and milkshakes from the world famous, Pop’s Chock'lit Shoppe.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Reference - Geraldine Grundy

Geraldine Grundy is perhaps the only character who has had a permanent residence in both Riverdale and Greendale over the course of both the shows. In season 1 of Riverdale, Geraldine Grundy works at Riverdale High as a music teacher, and even has a brief romantic dalliance with Archie Andrews while inspiring him to get serious about his music career.

However, she later moves to the town of Greendale where she not only continues to teach music but also continues to have relationships with students, namely Ben Button. That is until she is murdered by the Black Hood.

Riverdale Reference - The Serpents

Jughead Jones is known for many things on Riverdale, but perhaps he is most renowned for his role as the Serpent King, i.e. the leader of the Serpents gang. In the Riverdale series, each member of the gang adorns a leather jacket with serpents logo on the back in the show.

The third part of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina gives yet another nod to Riverdale when a boy wearing a Serpents jacket walks into Dr. Cee’s bookshop and cafe looking for some food. However, much to his misfortune, he ends up becoming Hilda’s dinner that night.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Reference - Ben Button

Greendale is filled with witches and magical creatures, which is probably why the normal rules of death and life don’t seem to apply to this magical town. After Ben Button kills himself in Riverdale by jumping out of a third-story window, he seems to come alive again in the town of Greendale.

In The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Ben is seen delivering a pizza to Madam Satan, only to be murdered yet again. However, this time, he dies in Sabrina’s hometown, Greendale.

Riverdale Reference - The Regalia

In season 3 of The Chilling Adventure of Sabrina, Sabrina and her cousin Ambrose drive to Riverdale on a quest to locate one item from the Holy Regalia. While in Riverdale, they come across a board vandalised by graffiti. On looking closer, fans can notice that the graffiti has been created and signed by none other than Jughead Jones from Riverdale.

Moreover, Sabrina and Ambrose finally locate the item hidden inside a maple tree. With all the maple syrup and drug business surrounding Riverdale in season 1, this was an added wink to the audience and another reference to the Riverdale series.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Reference - Billy Marlin

After only making casual references to the town of Greendale for three seasons, Riverdale finally took it a step further in its latest instalment of episodes in season four.

In the episode "Varsity Blues," Betty Cooper is seen interviewing the top athletes from different schools in order to get to the bottom of Stonewall Prep’s gaming history. During this investigation, Betty also interviews Greendale’s resident star player, Billy Marlin, further drawing a parallel between the two shows.
